I wouldn't venture that far my friend. Just because they haven't been lighting up the website with scads of news on transfers does not mean that something isn't happening. Im sure that GMTM and the boys that are up there and a lot closer to the situation are waiting to make sure everything is accurate before going public

Nope. Manger is right. We've used up all our schollies. We have signed some guys but, for the most part, they're either true freshmen or PG transfers.

Ok. Thanks for the confirmation Libertine. Being away from Lynchburg I really can't follow the goings on as much as I did last summer.

How about if you tell us? If that's against some sort of regulation because of your association with the team, I suggest you create an alias to leak us info.

U.Va. lineman leaves for Liberty

Junior Eddie Pinigis, expected to compete for Virginia's starting right tackle spot, quit the team Saturday, Cavaliers coach Al Groh said Monday. Pinigis will play this season at Liberty University.

"I think he was looking for more playing time," Groh said, adding that Pinigis had fallen behind redshirt freshman Will Barker in the competition to replace Brad Butler, who graduated.

Pinigis' uncle, Calvert Jones, said Pinigis signed a scholarship Monday to play for Liberty. Liberty's coach is Danny Rocco, who was a Virginia assistant last season and recruited Pinigis out of Jefferson Forest High in Forest. Pinigis will remain at right tackle.

Sophomore Zak Stair, listed as Eugene Monroe's backup at left tackle before preseason practices, will see time at both tackle spots. The Cavaliers' fourth tackle is senior Davon Robb, who is back on the team after missing last year because of academic problems.

Pinigis (6-feet-7, 298 pounds) started three games last season -- Maryland, Boston College and Florida State. He started the first two because Butler moved to left tackle to replace the injured D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Pinigis started against Florida State while Butler served a one-game, school-imposed suspension for diving at the right leg of Boston College defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka.

Groh said earlier this preseason that he was impressed with Barker, a 6-foot-7, 306-pounder from Bryn Mawr, Pa.
298lbs. That is a big transfer.

this is no surprise. GMTM and i had speculated this for sometime, as pinigis had fallen on the depth chart, plus he had a small legal run-in while at UVA. i cerrtainly hope he will live up to the billing he had coming out of high school, because he did nothing at UVA.

WOW! WHAT A PICK UP!

He may have had difficulty at UVA but our competition this year is not in the ACC (minus one) so I think he'll be a fantastic addition. This is what we need to get the program over the hump.

Can someone recap the former D1-A (Bowl Division) players we now have on the team?

Former Virginia Offensive Lineman Eddie Pinigis Transfers To Liberty

August 21, 2006
Lynchburg, Va.

Liberty University Head Football Coach Danny Rocco has announced that former Virginia offensive tackle Eddie Pinigis has transferred to Liberty and will join the Flames’ roster for the upcoming 2006 season.

“I had the opportunity to get to know Eddie and his family during the recruiting process at Virginia and I have continued to follow his process over the years,” stated Rocco. “We are certainly excited about him be a part of our program.”

Pinigis (6-8, 295, R-Jr., Forest, Va.), who was slated to start this season at right tackle at Virginia, is coming off a career year for the Cavaliers as he played in all 12 games and started contests against Boston College, Florida State and Maryland to earn his first career letter.

On the offensive line, he was named the team’s offensive player of the week against Boston College, while he also served as a member of the kick scoring unit. Pinigis redshirted his first season with Virginia in 2003, while he saw playing time in five games as a redshirt freshman in 2004.

The transfer to Liberty marks the return home for the offensive lineman as he graduated from Jefferson Forest High School in 2003. Pinigis was ranked as the 63rd-best offensive lineman in the nation as a senior by Rivals.com, while earning first-team Group AA all-state honors the same year. He was also a first-team all-district and all-region selection as a junior, while not allowing a sack during his final two years at Jefferson Forest.

Pinigis marks the fourth Division I-A transfer for Liberty since Rocco took over the football program last December. Pinigis joins Zach Davis (6-4, 275, R-Jr., OL) from East Carolina, Stevie Ray Lloyd (5-11, 235, R-Jr., LB) from Virginia Tech and Rashad Jennings (6-1, 235, R-So., RB) from Pittsburgh as I-A transfers that are new to the program this year.
