I'm also very excited to see McKay here at LU!

This year is going to be tough, because the coaching search took so long, he really didn't have time to recruit.

But in the next two years, look out. I could see us back at the NCAAs. I'm very excited. And I've seen the team twice this year and enjoyed the games. Hopefully the students and locals keep comming out in greater numbers.

McKay has been a pleasant change. I haven't seen an LU team with the hustle that this one has for a good many years and I'm sure that some of that has to do with the coach. SCAR's years were exceptions, of course! Though I've never met him, he seems to command respect and he definitely speaks with intelligence. I like him. And may all the good coaches we have here at LU grow old and gray in Lynchburg!

A lot of people are conceding that this year will be "tough", and I'm not sure I know what that means. If having about a .500 record for the season and losing in the first round of the BSC tourney is tough; well that (or worse) is where we have been the last 3 years, and quite frankly I think we will do better than that. I believe we will have a home game in the first round of the conference tournament and will win it. That's as far as I want to go with predictions, and I would not consider that a tough year at all.

I've seen just about all the conference teams play this year, and I'd say LU could definitely expect a 2nd-4th place finish. I think WU is performing at a higher level still than the rest, then LU and UNCA (interchangeable), then HP, then the rest. Still a small sample size of games and a lot could happen, but based on early results I'd say:

WU
LU
UNCA
HP
Coastal
CSU
VMI
RU

Our core three, Bannister-Smith-Mclean, matches up pretty well with Winthrop's core three, Gaynor-Jenkins-McCullough.

We don't have the experienced backcourt that they do, and we don't have an Antwan Harris coming off the bench, which is a big plus for them. However, starters Robinson and Corbin appear to be average, if even that.

With BJ Jenkins, Rell Porter, and Kyle Ohman playing well, and hopefully a healthy Tyler Baker in the mix, LU may possibly be back in legitimate contention for the conference crown, before it's all said and done.
