I forgot about Burgess...but I do think having as much beef as we will have up front this year should help us with the running game (whoever is toting the rock) and offer JW plenty of protection in the passing game

My point is that while I agree with you that Hartman will get a chance to start, you don't just anoint him a starter because he came from a FBS program, and on top of that, its no guarantee that he will have the same result that other guys have.

No one is saying that he will be starting. Nevertheless, he will be given every opportunity to start. Especially over guys like Grant Jones.

I'm not disagreeing that he will get a chance to start (which you apparently missed in my previous post). I have always had a " wait and see" attitude when it comes to transfers from FBS schools in general. Whenever I am on AGS or CS.com and there are guys gushing about FBS transfer this or that, I tend to take the more measured view.

Hartman will get his opportunity to show what he can do in a few weeks, and if he shows Coach Gill and Coach Wagner that he is one of the best 5 guys for that front, and they start him, then that's cool by me. If he doesnt end up starting game 1, that just means that he isn't one of the 5 best guys to be on the field for snap 1 of the 2014 season according to the coaches and I'm sure he will get his playing time and even plenty of opportunities to move into the lineup.

I'm simply responding to your inability to read or your consistent need to read into things.

I have never said that he will start. I highlighted your listed starting five and stated that he would have something to say about it. Then said that he would be given every opportunity to start. You are looking to fight when there is nothing to fight about.

I've seen your posts on there and here and they are far from measured. The fact that you listed Grant Jones shows how out of touch you are. You're living in the past.

I will just say that offensive line will be a battle to keep an eye on along with tight end 9since we have FBS transfers factoring into both)

I saw that...our biggest loss offensively is at tailback, and that there is because of AA graduating and Des going down in spring ball

When it comes to FBS transfers...I.am much more measured. just because somebody comes from South Carolina or UVa or Tech or Utah or wherever doesnt mean anything until they suit up for LU

Me while reading this thread:

But seriously, I'm already looking forward to Nov. 22. Just win a lot of games beforehand so our first season-ending match up will have the drama of the autobid behind it.

Believe me when I say that the feeling is mutual. I want that game to be a battle of two 4-0 teams on the Grand Strand and only ONE walks away with that trophy...of course we both want it to be our team hoisting it at the end of the day

This is what I wanted to hear. His projections and assumptions are pretty off for 2014.

I am still having a hard time getting excited for the season. Have I become this jaded???!!!

Yes. Becoming jaded to preseason enthusiasm is a natural progression for us.

And BYD, Coastal may be better but not by much. And Chuck South is probably closer behind the two of us than either the Chants or us care to admit.

We play at Coastal. The only time we won at Coastal in the series history we had this guy named Rashad Jennings on the team. Hopefully we can buck the trend this year.

As for CSU...November 23, 2013 in Charleston: Liberty 56 CSU 14.

Much Better Passer/ Decision Maker than we have had since Ive been a fan. I think coach Daily will make him better, familiarity with the Progam, Great Experience early in his career, Very talented Back up pushing him daily, and maybe the most depth at WR we have had in years.

It starts with the QB.

November 9, 2013 in Charleston: Chuck South 31 Coastal 26

Sure they ran out of gas the final two weeks of the season. But Chadwell has those guys headed in the right direction. They are definitely behind the two traditional favorites, but making up ground quickly based on this past season.

And I agree with R i that we will likely lean heavily on the passing game this fall to make up for RB losses. Incidentally, that is exactly what they are saying in Conway.

I agree with you Sly that Chuck South is getting better, but the depth of talent gap between them and us is still quite substantial. No way they walk out of the Bill with a W.

TBH, I'm not too worried about our offense. We have a big, veteran offensive line returning, a 3 year starter at QB, a game breaker at WR in Petey, and plenty of depth behind him starting with Gabe and Shells. The only question mark is at RB, but I think Abnar has proven he has the ability to step in to help carry the load. Only question with him is his durability.

I suspect we'll see a young player surprise us much like Abnar has done the past year or two in spot duty. We have entered plenty of seasons with less to be excited about on offense and managed OK.
