So we have a better football program than Richmond? Was I wrong? Troll much?
I don't think our program has as much historical success as theirs.

The main point of my post though is that you always seem to show up in time to stick your finger in whatever wound happens to be present around here.
You say that every time I say something objective. Do you really think I originally posted this thread to bring down the program, get over it.

I think it's a slightly northeast move, haha. Richmond has reached their ceiling and they don't want to go beyond it. I certainly do think Liberty will go far and beyond what Richmond will ever do on the field. But if you look at it in the here and now (not considering going to FBS) then I think it's a slight upgrade for Rocco. Hopefully we'll prove him (and myself) otherwise if we still get to play them in a couple of years.
But you do have to consider the potential for the FBS move, cuz that is reality.
It's a reality in terms of speculation. Maybe this move points the other way, maybe there is a lot we don't know?

Futhermore, BuryYourDukes tell me what wounds I stick my finger in? You were originally PO'd with me b/c I came on here last year and said Asa Chapman likely won't be drafted (how's that looking?). I'm sorry I don't live a land of rainbows and I try to be objective about things.

Agree completely. If we get the right guy in here i.e. energy, vision, ability to connect with the kids, unless the current players just don't like the school atmosphere, there would not be many defections. A good recruiter can work his magic on current players just as with high school kids. The crucial piece is the quickly acting on the situation, which you can bet the administration has already been doing behind the scenes.

Don't let the door hit your on the way out. Maybe we'll actually win the big one for once.

Anyone find it ironic the libertyflames.com website is down?

I would not expect this to have much of an impact on our roster. There will be a couple of players coming & going. But nothing that dramatic. If you've followed Twitter today, you can see that some of our current players who might have been in the doghouse under current coaching staff are excited to have clean slate with whoever is next.

We're fine. We're much better off than we were 6 years ago. Now on to bigger & better things. Great news out of the Big East this morning. Plenty of money, we're not settling for 2nd best. We will have a great coach in here in no time.

I haven't had access to flamefans for a while and I feel I'm too important to read over this whole thread (I did read this page though), so if this has already been brought up, that's why.

What does this say about Liberty football?

It could be argued that this is a lateral move or a slight step up. It's kind of a :dontgetit either way.

Does this mean there is a lot slimmer chance of FBS football for us than we've been talking about? Danny HAD to have known about that as much as anybody else at Liberty. Not only for us to keep him happy, but to use as a recruiting tool. Is this a signal that we're stuck for a while?

Does this signal that Danny believes Stony Brook has supplanted us for years to come? Why else would you leave the least competitive conference with an auto-bid to probably the most competitive?

And now the whole Asa situation really ticks me off. He bascially sullied this universities reputation, nationally, and then bolted. For what? A CHANCE to beat Stony Brook? That should have never got by the AD, except he is most likely looking to parlay his position into a better school as well. We need somebody looking out for the school in these situations from now on. It's ridiculous how we just got used in that situation by guys who don't plan on being here for, apparently, even another year.

Most of your questions have been discussed with the exception of the possibility that our FBS chances are lesser than anticipated. That did cross my mind until I started hearing about all of the things behind the scenes that apparently led Coach Rocco to jump.

As for the Asa situation, the repercussions continue. It played a factor and continues to do so. I think a lot of folks would do things entirely differently if they could get a mulligan.

I dont think Barber is trying to parlay this into a better job. Didnt he have a chance to go to LSU a few years back, and he removed his name from a short list?

That could very well be the case. Coach Rocco might be offering everybody a position over in Richmond. But we have some staff members who might be considered LU lifers who would likely be offered the chance to stay by whoever we hire next.

He applied for it, but removed his name from the list once it became public. Barber would be stupid not to move up when the time comes.

Jeff has the ability to greatly enhance his resume by guiding us into the FBS ranks. So he has vested interests to stick around for awhile. Now he has to balance handling the tasks of finding a new football coach while engaging with FBS leagues.

I guess you could be right. Maybe he's a lifer. I'm just saying there needs to be somebody given the authority, to look out for the school in these situations and not tremble at the feet of the star football coach. Because apparently the Athletic Director and the Chancellor and the Dean are not that guy.

Again, we dont know the end of the story with that so Id be careful to make that kind of assumption.

I might be with you on this. But I would like to say that the fact that Rocco is gone is a strong argument that any three of these men did not tremble at the feet of the star football coach.

Do what ever you want as long as you make the playoffs or else? Seems pretty short sighted.

I said Summers with a 5th round prospect at the highest, which is looking about right.
