Yes and Yes. The CAA guy Tom Yeager said odds are one of the South games (ie. W+M Towson) will take a year off and play an extra North game to balance out the schedule. This would only be a problem in 2010 bc of the added entry in 2011.

Any word on our schedule? I would think it would be coming out soon.

Should be coming out in the next week or so. Couple of contracts still need to be finalized. All DI schedule this year, provided no one on the schedule drops football.

thank God for that

finally.

though, if you read between the lines- we've scheduled someone who may or may not field a team next year?

Yes, that's great news. Although I wonder if we were able to get any more auto-bid league teams other than JMU?

Well, I think NCCU is now technically a team from an auto bid conference since they joined the MEAC. Im not sure when that is official tho.

Is NCCU even on the schedule? I know they were rumored to be trying to back out of it.

I heard the same but I'm not sure. It'd be nice to play another CAA team.

the debate, I suppose, is:

is a crappy DI opponent better/worse for us than a good DII team?

(per resume/SOS, I mean- not level of competition)

Not really a debate at all, Medic. My understanding is that when it comes to the playoff selection committee, any DII wins don't count as wins at all, from their perspective.

It's always better to play a DI cupcake than a DII powerhouse (and if I'm wrong, Super will correct me sometime after breakfast).

This is what I agree with. Better to have beaten a very bad DI that the committee will look at, than a DII that the committee will ignore. If you beat the DII national champ, and that DII national champ also beats Coastal, the committee doesn't give a rip. Beat a bottom feeder like Valpo, St Francis, Indiana State, or Savannah State, and you've got yourself a resume builder.

My take: It doesn't really matter. What matters is 1) our success in the conference and 2) our success against a OOC slate comparable to other programs.

Playing all DI games is great, but I'm more concerned with the third and fourth OOC game. Hopefully at least one of those games will allow the program to prove itself. The fifth can be a cupcake and it's great that it's DI, but if we play 3 games against Georgetown level talent we should be ashamed of ourselves.

Well..... Presby is 1 as well, so you need 1 more to accomplish that setup. I really hope we have at least one more top 60 team in the schedule.
