Very cool you are coming down Medic. How many other FF'ers are going to be there this weekend. Are you going Friday, Saturday or both?

If I go it'll be on Saturday. I'm kind of torn as to whether or not I am or not.

I got word on the condition of Fumble, Jr. today. Apparently he is handling the situation as well as one could possibly be. When the reality suck in that he had passed away he was constantly blaming himself, which is natural, but now has seem to have progressed past the blame stage. Today he got back on Fox Field to resume baseball work outs. Thankfully he is doing this well, I was concerned that he'd be blaming himself for a lot longer. Glad to see his is showing the mental toughness to realize that he can't keep blaming himself.

I'm glad to see he's still playing baseball. It would've been easy to stop.

I sincerely wish that I could make the trip to VA this weekend, but with ESPNU coming for the broadcast, there's lots of work to do. I'm confident that I speak for the gang at coastalfans.com when I say that Jeff and his family are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Please convey our love and well-wishes.

Here is the link to his full obituary. The funeral home is just down the road from the Charlie's restaurant.
Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration at JMU. He became a certified athletic trainer (ATC), having passed the NATA exam on the first try. He received his Master of Science degree from Austin Peay University and was working on his dissertation for a Doctorate in Education at Liberty University. He was the Assistant Professor of Health Sciences and Kinesiology at Liberty University, Faculty Advisor for LUnatics, and a member of NATA, Flames Club and Heritage United Methodist Church. Jeff had been a sports fanatic his whole life.

Huge lines at the viewing tonight. It was great to see so many people come out and pay their respects. For those of you not there....Jeff was wearing his LC baseball hat. Perfect.

When you speak of the baseball family...it was clearly evident tonight...

Of course the entire LC baseball team was there...saw members of the LC softball team...there were also flowers from almost all of the baseball teams in the ODAC. It was really nice to see.

We, at Coastal Carolina University, held a moment of silence for Jeff before tonight's game at Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field. Please pass along our thoughts and prayers at tomorrow's service.

I just spent 20 minutes on other message boards reading things about him. It's amazing how many people that man touched. One the on HSBBW that made me laugh out loud, that many of you don't know, is this:
p.s. Jeff posted regularly on d3baseball.com under "A.G." I never did get around to asking him what the heck "A.G." stood for..
Fumble was our very own, infamous poster that disappeared forever: A.G. That's why I've had the avatar up that I have since he died. It stood for "Another Guest" from before the boards required activation.

It's because of this that I'm renaming the "A.G. Award" to the "Jeff Taylor Award" when we do the end of the year awards. It's always been named after him, but now it'll be more public.

I've heard all kinds of stories this week, most of which have made me laugh. That guy would've wanted it no other way.

I was in line by 6:15 pm, and the wait to get in was at least a full hour. They had a PowerPoint of pictures going, everything from black & whites when Jeff was a little boy, to college pics when Jeff had some 1970s hair, wedding photos where I swear Jeff and I had the same mid-'80s white tux (with matching shoes), to team pics of Jeff coaching his son in Little League, to even a Quiz Bowl pic we took standing with a statue of the Hokie bird at Virginia Tech.

If there was ever an event that brought the LC & LU families together, it was Jeff's death. I wish somehow the powers that be could agree to play an LU-LC preseason baseball scrimmage and name it after Jeff. He and his boy would have loved that.

In Jeff's casket were 2 baseball bats--one wooden & one aluminum, a very worn baseball glove, an autographed baseball from somebody's grand slam (I'm guessing his son's), batting gloves, and a pencil drawing of Christ on the cross dated 1973.
