yeah, they said the 13 games to be on tv today.
we just do not know what ESPN it will be on.

trust me, i got this one right!

"The 13 BracketBusters matchups will be announced Feb. 2, while game time and network assignments will be announced Feb. 9."
from the espnubracketbuster website.

we are one of the 13 matchups. watch espn, it says it right on there as well!

Yesss! I've got an in with a season ticket holder and I'll be sitting at half-court in the 5th row. (I even get a free beverage before and after the game- Pepsi, of course.) Thank you selection committee!

even if you don't like the matchup, although I think it is a good one against an established and successful program, it will be a good test for LU and at the leat it can't be any worse than their last appearance on espn...

The Ted is a great place to play, went to the JMU-ODU game there myself this year...ya'll will have a lot of fun. Lee is a handful inside, so I hope you've got some bigman depth, cause we don't, and that cost us in our 2nd game in Harrisonburg.

a pity we didn't get to play each other.

3 hour 42 minute drive. That's doable. When is this game again?

The Colonial Athletic Association is flexing its "BracketBusters" Muscles.

Five of the 13 televised games in the ESPN-created event involve CAA teams, the most from any conference, the network announced Monday.

Old Dominion landed one of those, Feb. 21 at home against Liberty. The time and ESPN network on which it will be shown will be announced next week.

"The strength of our league is helping carry the event," ODU coach Blaine Taylor said.

CAA needs to start getting more respect. That conference is arguably even better than the MVC, which has been the top 1 or 2 mid major conferences for the past several years now.

I'm having deja-vu all over again, and don't particularly want to hear anything "nice" about the CAA. I have baaaaad memories from football season.

From a VCU fan on ODU's message board:
Under Falwell's leadership Thomas Road Baptist Church left the Baptist Bible Fellowship and joined the Southern Baptist, that's close enough for me. It was partially because of his televangelism that I when I left the church, I did not come back for many years. He became the public face of Christianity, and in my view gave it a bad name. I consider myself very fortunate that I was hired to work at a moderate church (a Disciples of Christ church, we got some good pub when our leader gave the address at Obama's prayer service). It showed me that church was more than just blowhards preaching hellfire and damnation towards non-believers and homosexuals, and I eventually came to join that church, where I've now served for 6 years next month. This led me to rekindle a relationship with my HS best friend, now my wife, who (Thank the Lord) is one semester from finishing her Master of Divinity Degree at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. A Seminary started by moderate Baptists in response to movements like the SBC's to exclude women from ministry, and continue to support the Baptist "free church" tradition, rather than conforming to the SBC's agenda.

So, in the end, my dislike for ODU is fun, and a sports rivalry, but I will gladly set it aside for one day to see ODU take any institution run by Jerry Falwell down a notch.
Seriously? This one game means that much? I didn't know.

His opinion isnt shared by everyone at ODU...last time Doc was up there we got a police escort going the wrong way up a 1 lane highway...they treated him like a President...that also is when he had to Police officer come up to me during the game threatening me to be kicked out...the good ole days

This area is a LU haven, pretty open to all kinds of religious opinions...hell, um I mean heck ;) Pat Robertson is based down here in VaBch. I went to LU for a year and have many friends that graduated from there. I am currently going to ODU. This is a basketball game and I plan to enjoy it for that. Most understand that going to LU doesn't mean you worship every syllable of the departed Dr. Falwell (who once jokingly slapped me in the back of the head and told me to get a haircut!) :) So I don't view this as a spiritual battle.... but I do want the christians to die at the hands of the Lions this time. (We are the Monarchs~~mascot is a lion).
So with that said if you have any questions about our team feel free to ask.
We are a very young team as well. We have 1 senior (non-starter) 2 juniors (1 starter, 1 occasional starter) and the rest are redshirt freshman/sophomores and true freshman. We have about 3 guys that are 6'8"-6'9" and our star player is 6'10". His name is Gerald Lee and the best way to describe him is to say Tim Duncan. He can hit from 18-20 ft and is second in our league in FT %.
I don't want my first post to be several paragraphs, but feel free to ask questions. looking forward to the match up.
Also if you want to come to the game there is a hotel on campus (Marriot) spitting distance from "The Ted" (our arena). The Arena holds about 8.5K for basketball and was voted top ten venue in America for venues under 10K. Also its very likely that it could be 65 degrees or better by that time... not like walking on top the mountains across the cold red earth towards DeMoss... ick!

The consensus for them seems to be they'll just use their height and win. Pretty sure only Radford has successfully done that. And I'm not so sure it wasn't more of the physicality of their bigs rather than their height. Hopefully they go into the game thinking they can just score in the pain anytime they want.
