If roundball is your blood, this is the place to discuss the Flames as they move into the Ritchie McKay era for the 2nd time.

LU beat G-W by 9, which beat Radford by 20, which beat Winthrop by 21, so LU should be able to beat Winthrop by 50.

Here is Chris' wrap up:
LU’s Smith lives up to preseason accolade
The Seth Curry buzz was in full effect at Liberty the second he set foot on campus. It increased when he scored 26 points against Virginia and grew even louder when he lifted the Flames on his back in consecutive overtime victories against William & Mary and George Mason.

That’s fine with Anthony Smith, who is flying under the radar as much as any preseason conference player of the year can possibly fly. As Curry struggled to a 4-for-16 shooting performance Saturday against Gardner-Webb, Smith proved he’s plenty capable of picking up the slack, hitting two huge 3-pointers in the final five minutes to lift the Flames to a 68-59 victory.
...along with this little tid-bit I did not know:
A little more than an hour after the game ended, the team boarded a charter flight for Clemson, a perk paid for by internal fund-raising. Clemson agreed to play the Flames home-and-home, with one stipulation — the 2008 game had to be today. It was too good of a deal for McKay to turn down, considering the Tigers will make the return trip to Lynchburg next season, marking the first time an ACC team will play the Flames on their home floor.

Liberty made the "Final Score" highlights on Fox Sports. They were hyping Seth (and his brother). They showed some highlights of the GW game. I thought I heard them say that Seth Curry was leading all freshmen in the nation in scoring. Is that true?

I'd link a clip, but I'm at work and can't stream video.

i was talking to bryson friday and told him i thought we would lose to GW. i thought those guys were underrated. well the flames continue to prove doubters. i am really impressed with this team so far and if we can pull out some wins on the road, it could be a very special year!

Seth is still leading the nation in scoring for freshman. 2nd place is Sylven Landesberg at UVA.

That's as of 11/30. Since then Seth's average dropped to just over 20. Landesberg has only played one game and he scored 12 I think. So his average has gone down slightly.

I thought LU did a great job in the 2nd half after a subpar 1st half.
G-W is a well coached team, but we out executed them down the stretch. Gutsy calls by McKay to go for 3 balls with AS, proved good. Down the stretch, players may tend to miss those jumpers due to fatigue, but not this time. I think RM figured he needed to get the senior the ball. G-W came out of 1 timeout with a great play but did nothing the rest of the way (had some spin out and one throw away).

The key is to take care of business at home in conference. We may have a conference hiccup at home, but even if we take 3 on the road, that may be great.

GOOD W for the guys.

Any guesses how our team will do down there?

Can't seem to get a handle on GW.

It's still early to tell, but they are a very good team. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they finish in the top 3. They are not a flashy team, but are well coached and disciplined.

Thanks.

What did you think of their backcourt?

Decent. They can shoot though. The Holmes' should have a field day.

They definitely miss Jesse's brother. But they remain dangerous.

Thanks again.

We're light a Holmes (Travis) tonight and they're giving us fits.
