Presbyterian College, which moved to Division I this summer, has joined the league but will not be eligible to compete for a league title until it completes its mandatory probationary period. Next year, Stonybrook University will join as a football-only member while Gardner-Webb becomes a full member, earning the Big South an automatic playoff bid for its champion beginning in 2010.
Don't know when I missed that--when did the auto-bid happen?

It happened when we added Stony Brook. The NCAA rules are 6 eligible teams, playing together for two years. That's what we'll have.


We'll be eligible for a spot that year, not sure how they're gonna do it with 9 conferences eligible.
