I voted for football. I think the big win against CSU was a huge step for us and a big win at the time.

Umm, we're voting for Biggest Win of the Season here...yes, our men's bball teams may have beaten Saint Mary's School for the Blind, Podunk University and State Teaching School by margins of 100, but other than that they didn't do anything significant.

Anyway, with 360 votes football is currently leading with 26%, followed by women's basketball with 25%. I had to vote for women's bball on this one...its not often you take down an ACC team on its home turf. But it was a hard choice though, as I also wanted to vote for track and softball.
Ah Yes @ VMI wasnt a Big Win... At Home Against High Point wasnt a Big Game...
Important conference games, yes...but no one was ranked, nor in a major conference, and High Point we've owned in the Vines. Good wins-yes, but nowhere near the caliber of the choices we have to vote on.

But High Point was number 2 in the conference and we were fighting for the 3rd spot... They were both Big wins... Its not "The Biggest Upset Liberty Pulled off" Its the biggest win. Im not saying football and All that werent Big Wins, but at least one of those 2 have to be included

But that was not a win but a near miss and they don't count. My favorite near miss of the year was the men's soccer teams loss at home vs North Carolina. Number one team in the country and we out shoot them and loose by 1 goal.
Yes we did outplay them that day and it would have probably won this poll hands down had they won too.
If we would have won...........I don't know how I'd feel. :?:

I had an LU t-shirt on that day and pulled for LU the entire time.

But I still had the UNC shirt underneath.

With that being said, the UVA win is only 1% behind the football game.

Football won.

Right now Rashad against Savannah St is winning the individual performance. I really wish people wouldn't vote unless they had a clue about what was going on. I could get 100 yards vs Savannah St. Frazee against UVA was sick though.

Expect fans to have a football-centric viewpoint in these types of things. Football is everything to most unless you go to ODU or Winthrop

Seriously...if Josh's 3:57 mile doesn't win, this thing is crap. Not that he would care about winning a Sparky, but this does show LU fans' collective ignorance (present company excluded...unless you don't vote for him).

I was going to vote for Josh. I probably will on another computer, just because he deserves it. I voted for Megan though. If Josh or Megan don't win this one, it's complete crap. The two leading vote getters now are Rashad and McLean. Every put 40 up on VMI, and everyone ran for 199 against SSU. 37 vs UVA and 3:57 mile are things very few people do.

I agree with you...but I would add that fewer people have run 3:57 than have scored 37 points in a women's basketball game.

I'm with you. I voted for Josh. That time is stunning in that situation!

And you could be right. I just voted for Frazee because it was on the road, in a place UVA had never lost before, and against a team that was on a whole different level than us (and I mean that in Big South vs ACC).

See, I couldn't do that. UNC is the ONLY school I will pull for against LU. It's too deep in my blood. However, when we played dook & State in basketball a few years ago, I was pulling hard for the Flames.

Did you graduate from here or just work here? That changes the perspective if you didn't actually go to school here.

I voted for Josh. It was hands down the greatest individual performance of this year maybe ever for LU sports. Megan's performance vs UVA gets my honorable mention. Rashaad's performance while impressive was agains't Savannah State, a team that barely qualifies as a 1AA team.

Graduated in '03.

I was at the UNC/LU baseball game in 2001, I believe, when the Heels were 14th in the country. I had my Carolina shirt on then, even though I went with a bunch of people from my dorm.

Don't get me wrong, I love LU athletics. I played football in '99 for Coach Sam. However, if we had a game in Kenan, I'd be wearing the Carolina Blue.

See, I don't like that. I have no problem with pulling for a bigger school. However, pulling for a school you never stepped foot in as a student over a school that you spent four years at is just messed up in my opinion.

I can respect that opinion. Some people don't feel the same way I do, & I've got no problem with that.

I had a few classmates from high school attend UNC, & my sister should start there next spring. I may have never been enrolled in UNC, but I have been to Kenan & The Smith center so many times. It's just what I've known since I was 3.

My cubicle has numerous Carolina posters, ticket stubs, & a flag (along with some LU items). Doc would joke with me that I might be the only person employed at this school that had a "shrine" devoted to another school. We decided as long as it wasn't dook, it was okay.

I can agree with that.

I have a mix of UNC and LU stuff. I'm actually wearing UNC shorts with an LU shirt now.

It's tough for me when the two schools meet. I remember at the baseball game, I was loud when UNC scored, & I was somewhat loud when LU scored.

I played little league baseball with Jarrett Shearin, who played center field for UNC. His younger brother, Adam, was a catcher for that UNC team, so I went down to shoot the breeze with him a little bit.

So, it's not like I'm taunting any Flames when UNC scores, or anything like that. I would just rather see UNC with the "W".

I agree that an under 4 min mile is an impressive athletic feat and I would have voted for Josh hands down if I were not such a Megan Frazee fan. I will say that I think Josh should win it though. I want to add this though. Not many people in women's college basketball have scored over 35 points in a game. That is far more rare in college hoops for any individual to score over 30 in a game but in women's hoops even more so. I don't feel like doing the research but I do know that it is a rare feat. No where near as rare as a 4 minute mile. Conventional wisdom 40-50 years ago said that it was humanly impossible. That was widely accepted back then. No one would say getting 37 in a game was humanly impossible.

Just to point this out... Josh's 3:57 mile wasn't HIS best performance of the year. I think he would tell you that his 13:20 5k (5th best collegiate 5k of all time) was a better effort. Of course, they had to go with the mile for the contest because most people don't even know what a "k" is, let alone understanding what it means to be able to run 5 of them at a 4:17 mile pace! (by the way, smart guys, 5k=3.1 miles)
