Ok, so Bentley at PC has said some pretty dumb stuff in his blog this summer. This is the place to put them.

"We were able to break-down a few videos on our opponents today. I can already see that college defenses are much more complicated than high school defenses."

I think his blog is one of the greatest things ever. Not only is it hilarious that they hired an underqualified high school coach, but the fact that he's posting every underqualified thought he has on the internet for all of us to read is just gold.

Geez...give the guy a break, for crying out loud! And who says he's "underqualified" to be our head coach? Just because he doesn't have any college experience doesn't make him "underqualified" to coach at this level. If that's the case, then soldiers who have been well trained for battle and are awaiting their first deployment are "underqualified" soldiers. Within the scope of Bentley's experience, I'd say he's incredibly qualified. He was Nike's national high-school coach of the year in 2006. Before you say it, I know that high school and college football are two very different arenas. He'll learn the ropes, and after all, going 0-12 (worst possible scenario) in the first of a few transitional seasons isn't exactly an insurmountable obstacle in the path to becoming a good football program.

I'm not saying anything bad about the guy other than he's an idiot for saying, in the paper, "Uh, yea, I didn't realize college defenses were more complex than high school."

i guess that depends on your definition of qualified. comparaing a soldier's training to your coaches high school experience is nowhere near the same thing. the soldier's training is aimed at making him prepared to fight in battle, which is what he will be doing. high school experience makes him a better high school coach, but i would say that it in no way prepares for college. if he were "qualified" for a college head coach, he would have many years of winning experience as an assistant coach in college.
but he'll get experience, even if its the school of hard knocks

If we promote one of them to a 4 star general, yes, he would be underqualified. Most people start out as assistant coaches at college before given the chance to be a head coach. That way they learn how the game is played. The guy was baffled that he wasn't allowed to coach practices until a certain date! Come on, you guys are gonna be on probation if he doesnt watch it.

I think it is neat that they are already asking questions about how we do things even though practice has not started.
yes- that's just swell. You know, often, Division I athletes DO think about their respective sports when NOT at practice.

:D

(This is gonna be fun)

We are also getting new carpet and a Gatorade dispenser machine in the locker room.

The Gatorade machine will allow the players to have free flowing access to cupfuls of Gatorade.
OHHHHHHH. thanks for the explanation of how a Gatorade machine works. I was stymied.

just be sure to hold it to "cupfuls" you craaaaaaazy kids, you

Someone at church told me that he reads the blog and that I write pretty good to be a football coach. I wonder why he said that?
I wonder as well.

we all do.

I think Bentley will be alright. He's a PC alum who was a successful HS coach.

He'll learn the ropes...and he'll probably end up being a decent recruiter.

I will agree that his blogs are funny...but at least he's giving the fans updates.

Remember the pre-rocco era. One year we had bulletin boards with the schedules that went up about week 3 into the season. Two home games were already over.

If I were a PC student, alumni, or fan, I thind I'd rather hear about "cupfuls of gateraid" that crickets chirping.

I admit it is rather entertaining. But I will be surprised if Bentley doesn't have offenses that aren't just as entertaining in short order.

I believe Kilts has been around us long enough now to realize we are just having some fun waiting on the season to get started.

PC will be good in a few years, just not so much this year.

I'm not dogging Bentley when I make fun of the things he says, just the fact that he said them.

I think we are getting better.

hmmm. Well, I'd hope so. A bit concerned that you don't seem SURE whether you are, or not. Whom should we ask- possibly the concession stand operators?

The Blue Hose started with “circle meeting” today when Coach Crane gave a touching testimony to the team today. If one of our players was feeling the love from Coach Crane today then he is in the wrong place. Thanks Coach Crane for making this move with me.

 :dontgetit
really have no clue what's going on with this one. Maybe a South Carolina thing? Perhaps CCU's boys can interpret.
