I'm guessing students will be missing 3-4 home games. I know Christmas break starts 12/05 (I think)... not sure when classes resume.

We should be starting back up by the Chuck South game.

Radford Liberty the last game of the season in the Vines Center! Yes! I am surprised no one is complaining about the 3 non division 1's. RD got killed on that the past couple of years. I know I don't really like calling those games but with a Frenzied Crowd going off with all the points Tyler Baker will score those nights, we should have a decent telecast. Nyack College is coached by my very good friend John Jones who went to Liberty with me and also coached at Liberty with me for a season as well. It will be good to see him return to the Vines with his team. It would be nice to see Steph Leary bring his team from Texas up next year as well.

I'm trying to be positive.

I know part of our non-conference away schedule so I'm trying not to complain too much about the horrible home schedule.

Scar, a Google search tells me that Stephon is coaching at Texas A&M International University. Congrats to him on his new job!

That is correct Jim. Steph is back in his home state and has a new program! I am cheering for him to do well. He is near Laredo from what I understand. I thought about driving over there to see him when I was in South Padre but I do so much driving in my life that I was not up for that drive. I think it was about 4 hours but I am not sure.

Yeah Im not thrilled with the home slate this year but these guys are very much in the same boat as football was before their coaching change. They need to get back to winning and winning in bunches. I think with this home schedule we will do plenty of that. I will pass judgement on the chances for the whole season until the full schedule is released

I admit I am relatively pleased with the schedule. Until we can start doling out significant guarantee money we are going to have to drop a few non-DIs on our schedule.

As for Steph, glad to see him back in Texas. But that still is a L O N G way from home for him. But its certainly closer than West Palm Beach. He'll have an easier time convincing Houston kids to head down 59 to Los Dos Laredos than all the way over in Florida. And good call on not trying to make the journey up the Rio Grande, Scar. Its a brutal drive with a zillion checkpoints.

Even though we started out fairly hot last year, hopefully the quick start won't fizzle out and we'll pull out some of those close wins at the end of the year.

Our key to this year is going to be on the road. We've got to start winning away from the Vines (of course some wins in the Furnace won't hrut, either) but the key is going to be how we play away from Lynchburg. We've been nothing short of pathetic over the past 2-3 years, that HAS to improve.

This part of the schedule looks pretty weak. Niagra should be a pretty decent team, but the rest looks pretty bad. I'm guessing when you add the away games in there, the soft competition makes sense? I just wish we could get more than one semi-decent team to come to our place.

coker, nyack, and kentucky christian are weak games though im sure john jones will have nyack ready. im glad we are playing campbell again and renewing that rivalry as it was fierce back in the day.

I don't have any problems with anything but the three Non-DIs. Longwood is going to be on our schedule and they have recently shown they have grown to a point where its not as bad of an opponent as they used to be. PC is goping to be on our schedules for the foreseeable future and Campbell is a decent visitor coming off their best season in about a decade (even though it wasn't exactly stellar).

I know we'd all love to have great opponents inside the Vines to get excited about. But we're just not there yet. Our strength of schedule will get a very nice boost from the away portion of the schedule.

I don't have a problem with a few non-DIs on the schedule right now, but I just wish we'd bring back Lynchburg College or some other local school instead of playing some distant team that basically no one in the area has heard of.

But whatever, I trust Coach McKay and believe he will do a fine job. I'm very much looking forward to this season.

I know that the 08-09 home schedule will be better because of one of the series we're starting this year (albeit starting on the road this year). I'd tell you the team but I honestly don't remember which one it is this year. It's an in-state school that's pretty good, I just don't remember which one. VCU, GMU, something like that.

We are going to have home and homes with GMU and VCU in the next few years. We play one on the road this season, The other will then join in the mix with alternating home and away games for the next few years. I think George Mason starts it with a road game. Then GMU comes to Lynchburg next year and we go to VCU. Reverse it the following years.

That is great. 2 good opponents with a local flare thrown in. Let's just make it offical and join the CAA.

Unfortunately, the soft early schedule is necessary because we have three new gaurds coming in who need to learn how to play and win together. Hopefully, the early learning/growth process will lay the foundation for a late season run at the conference tournament.
