Why is there a difference between newspapers and regulars?


I'm not criticizing someone over a message board, I was just legitimately surprised that JDub hadn't been taught that.

To save room in the columns that they lined the text in...at least thats what the Champion editors told us. Maybe other fishwraps are different, but us Champion writers were sufficiently warned to use only one. Newspapers are typically written in AP style, so the rules are a bit different than writing an english paper.

i didn't know 2 spaces after a period was MLA, debateable, or anything.

i thought it was just common sense.

i always got screwed up with punctuation inside or outside of "". i've learned now, but the fact that it's situational always screwed me up.
