He's currently playing on an ABA team http://www.capecodfrenzy.com/ He's not listed on the roster yet but that June 22nd update has him listed. I read on another board that he had around 30 points in their first game, but the team lost pretty bad. Apparently they don't really update their website.

Brew is actually playing in the Greater Springfield Summer Pro Am League. His team competes in the ABA in the winter. The ABA is an interesting league. I have been to a game and it is up and down full court game. If your team presses in the backcourt and the defense causes a turnover, these blue string lights around the backboard light up (think they bought the lights at K MART) and if the team scores off the turnover, the team gets 3 points; a 3 pointer becomes 4 points. There are some interesting players that play in the league. I saw Issa Konare play in one game.

This actually frustrates me a little bit. I could understand why Brew wanted to leave, 100%, but this is just flat out stupid. I wish him the best, but the best thing for him would have been to finish off his 4th year of eligibility.

Let's be reminded that the ABA is not a full-time basketball league. Most of it's players have other jobs besides this to supplement the terrible income they get in the ABA.

Secondly, there haven't been any good players that ever came out of this league, and most of these teams barely stick around for more than a few years. To get the rights to start an ABA team, you can show up with a measley grand and get your own basketball team. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_B ... unct_teams That link will take you to the ABA Wikipedia page, the list of all the defunct teams can be seen below. While there are teams that have been in this league since the beginning, there are more that have quit and closed up shop after a year.

Also, since most of these teams have very little money to travel, a team may play the same opponent 20 times a year, even though the league is 45 teams. They will be expanding to 50 something next year.

The USBL used to have a team in Atlantic City by my house. They played in a high school gym in front of 400 people. I remember one game I went to, they won 125-70, and another time I think they may have actually scored 140 points.

While it's fun to watch, and while I respect these guys for trying their best and playing their favorite game for the love of it rather than the massive amounts of money, this is wayyyyyy below Brew. His best bet was to stick around for another year.

I disagree. His best bet was to go to Europe.

Agreed to a certain extend SJ

Plain and simple, he sold himself short and undervalued his own talent.

I think he probably just needs to make some money for now. I have no doubt his goal is to be trying out for an NBA team, but until that is an option (after the draft), the guy needs to pay the bills which was his whole reason for leaving. If he doesn't make one of those squads, he'll probably then move on to Europe.

We disagree on the point about him coming back to school. There's no way he could've done that.

I will be the first to say I wish Brew could have stayed...but he has a family and unless you are getting some help from somewhere you are in a pretty hard spot paying the bills and such. I think in the longterm staying in school would've been best for him, but sometimes life isn't so simple

The ABA thing had to Def be about the cash. European/Asian/South American teams won't fill out till later this year so he would need to do something for scratch
