He barely did well in the Big South... How can he dominate Europe... People underestimate overseas ball some of the best players in the world are there, Larry wont get drafted and if he could play overseas thats great for him and a good fit, However he will never dominate anywhere

Piling on: The overseas game is completely different from the NBA game. It's a lot more wide-open and puts an emphasis on speed, shooting and passing w/ much less emphasis on size. This fits Blair's game perfectly.

If LB makes it or doesn't it won't be just because of size. There are dozens of guys smaller than him or his size that have made it. What he will have to do as a smaller guard is show an ability to blow by even the quickest of defenders and score at the rim above big time shot blockers, distribute the ball and not throw it all over the gym, defend quick guards, knock down a decent percentage of open jumpers, things like that. You think Jacque Vaughn or Earl Boykins or even Tony Parker are too small to play? LB is at least as big as or bigger than those guys. Parker does all the things I mentioned above which is why he is the reigning MVP of the finals. Vaughn finally can hit a decent percentage of jumpshots. I think most of the guys that post on this board could shoot better than him a few years ago. He did a lot of other things well which is why he got an opportunity. There are plenty of guys that are good enough to make it but still don't because they can't take everyone. Same with the all star game. There are only 24 players in that game. Do we think only 24 are good enough to make it? Of course not. The NBA is a numbers game that is not in your favor. LB can have a great career over seas. I have seen far less players than he do well over there. LB will play for money, good money somewhere soon. I would love to see him in the NBA of course but the D league is not the answer. For the 2 guys a year they pull out of that league, the pay is not enough for that IMO. I know a few D leaguers personally and they don't get paid well at all. They do it because the perception is you have a quicker route into the NBA since they look at those guys for 10 day contracts a lot. But you have to impress someone fast and most just get sent back when the guy they replaced comes off the injured list.

well, I don't actually "jump" per say, when shooting a jump shot.

sorta stand flat footed and heave it.

my verticle leap is about 3/4 "

maybe you'd like to take me off that list 8)

One example of a player doing well now in Europe who can be easily compared with Larry is Radford alum Whit Holcomb-Faye. He had a nice career in the Big South, but not as good as LB. Last I heard he was scoring over 20 a game, although I don't think it was one of the top tier leagues.

He also flipped people the bird a lot more than LB too.

For the record, I'm not thrilled to see one of our own get dogged on our board like this. I wish Larry nothing but the best in his future endeavors. He's the top scorer int he history of the league, for crying out loud. Many of those ill-advised shots went in apparently.

As for the D-League vs. Overseas, the only advantage I can see for staying Stateside is gastronomical. Sure you can get an occasional 10 day contract in the D-League or CBA, but you might as well be earning a living and seeing the world on somebody else's nickel while you are young and still able.

For the record, there was only one person really dogging LB. A few others kidded about his shot selection or said they didn't think he could play in the NBA but would do well in Europe.

I have a good friend who was a D2 All-American who plays pro ball in Germany. He makes excellent money there...they even pay for his apartment, car, and pretty much all his living expenses. I would love to see Larry in the NBA, but if he doesn't get there i'm sure he'll be able to make an awesome life for himself playing in Europe.

Larry could make it to the NBA if he works very, very hard....it is still my opinion if he played PG the past 2-3 seasons he would be much more appealing for an nba team looking to take a risk on a guy in the second round...but because he never was put into that position to learn it he now is at a disadvantage....there is no doubt in my mind if he was playing PG and ran the offense more and coached into that kind of player that he would be at the very least a shoe in to at least play in a summer league somewhere and maybe down the line see some action in the NBA....but now he is going to have to work twice as hard to get there...

but then again TBGBGBGBGBG has the street cred of a baller so he probably knows more then any of us ever could...

in regards to working hard, he did set some kind of pushup record. I wouldn't call that mailing it in.

Yea, he took some bad shots, but don't let your opinion off-the-court of a guy get in the way of what he did.
Here we go again... It has nothing to do with his abilities... He took bad shots, if any decent player takes 30 shots a game, he going to "dominate". I take nothing from him being the all time scorer or whatever. He is a good player, but he doesnt Dominate much, If he went to Florida, Unc, Duke, UVA, Tech, Florida St., BC, pretty much any SEC or ACC team he wouldnt even start... so how can he dominate overseas?

Hey hey hey now.. Im not bashing him, Honestly, I wish him nothing but the best and success... I hope the Is the MVP one day in the NBA, but at the same time Im a realist, and a lot of those bad shots did go in... sad enough

he would have had a coach that realized he was a point guard....he is a good player...and he did dominate the Big South...you can talk about the bad shots all day long...which we all agree he took a lot of them....but nothing was ever done to stop that or to teach him and mold him into the kind of very good player I think he could have become....that is my take on it....

Youre right about him needing to quit, but he cant dribble that well and he has never passed in his life (joking) but his passing skills are awful how can he play the point?

Sad enough??? Would you have rather him miss more of those shots? If so, you and your boy RD would have been gone sooner than you were. I'm sorry to say that, as I respected and still do respect RD, but I can't believe you are ragging on LB so hard.
