Rules: I guess any album that came from a band/artist that went to or is at LU. Also you can include faculty or profs or what have you. (ex. DC Talkd, Guy Penrod, Dr. Kerr) Basically anybody who is associated with the school. List your choice here.

Most of you won't know what I'm talking about but

Throws Like a Girl - Vroom

I'm listening to it now for the first time in a while and it is simply awesome. To me it is my 4 years of college. Scorcho's got my back.

Vroom was cool, John Johnson is a great guy!
But my vote is for a one album wonder band that came out of LU in the early 90's Broken English. Been so long since I listened to this, I'll have to break it out at home later to get some song titles.

I was there. It was kinda sad. There's a video of it online somewhere, and you can see my big head in the way for the first couple of minutes.

by the way, you guys are supposed to be offering up your own opinions, not agreeing with me. Where's the love for TBGB?

The thing is all of my favorites never put out full length cd's just short demos, then they would break up or something would happen...so I can't say I have a favorite cd..aside from maybe DC Talk, there have been so many good acts that have been together for a few months, then life happens and they break up without the chance of making a full length cd...

so its a pretty hard question to answer....

Since nobody else wants to be lame and state the obvious, Jesus Freak and one of the recent Toby Mac collections. There I said it.

oh Jesus Freak is my favorite album...but Dc Talk isn't my favorite band i have heard from liberty, just the other ones all break up before they can get a little notoriety

the band From Now Until August comes to mind....they had a spot on the Warped Tour lined up and then one of the members joined the marines and they quickly fell apart...but they got better every time they played with each other...

I'm waiting for someone to man up and say Lowry, Billingsly or a Sounds of Liberty CD. I guess we don't have that demographic of poster on here.

Lowry's 'Remotely Controlled' is in the rotation in the Sly Fox road trip collection. My kids think he's a riot.

I went to quite a few good shows, but the bands never stayed together long enough to remember, let alone put out an album. And I guess this isn't really and answer to your question, but the Kerry Knight Band was awesome live. I didn't much care for their albums, but Kerry Knight was an unbelievable performer. He covered Busta Rhymes one year for coffee house, and I must say, with the heavy guitar and base, it was much much better than the original.

i'll go with anything by winter solstice. some of the members of that band, and some other LU students (dont know if they are going there now or graduated though), formed the band ghosts of a fallen age. it's really heavy hardcore/metal music, just to warn you if you want to check them out.

I was wondering if Winter Solstice was from LU or not. I know they were from Lynchburg. I played in a crappy ska band with one of the members' cousin. Another friend of mine dated one of the members (I think, she may have just been friends with em) and now lives up here and cuts hair.

I know, or at least I was told, back when they had Corey (the asian looking fella) as the vocalist that everyone else in the band went to Liberty. After Corey left the band gradually started to have less and less Liberty kids in it. If you liked them, I highly recommend that other band i mentioned. I'm checking out their stuff on myspace now and its marvelous.

I think only two of the guys from Winter Solistice went to LU and I don't think they lasted two years at school. Same with Monday in London. Vroom and Pocket Change were good bands. I got a bunch of their stuff on MP3

Who from Monday In London came here? I went to high school with those guys. I've heard every band they've ever put out (Lucky 7, Nevertheless, Brentwood, exComplex). I remember when MIL was absolutely horrible. They were in Brentwood's shadow, then Robbie left Brentwood and went to MIL and MIL changed vocalists.

I never really listened to Winter Solstice.

I saw Monday in London once at the Elks Lodge/Moose Lodge (or some kind of big deer type animal lodge) over by FunQuest. They were OK at the time, never did bother to ever check them out again though.

They got signed, were doing really well, and then a singer decided to quit. They broke up for a little bit, Robbie and Daniel started playing with two other guys from King (who'd been in MIL before, also Brentwood, etc) and then MIL decided to get back together with someone else singing. Check out their Myspace. It's worth hearing. They've changed their sound a lot.

I loved Winter Solstice but Ghost From a Fallen Age is just simply terrible in my opinion....I expected them to be as good as Winter Solstice but was very much disappointed when I went to one of their shows not so long ago....They had an ad in AP magazine this past much, which I thought was funny

I know a lot of the guys are the same, but Ghost of a Fallen Age is a huge step backwards as far as musicianship goes....just nothing creative.....
