First the good news ... it appears the details are being worked out to have every home game carried live on the Liberty Channel (and consequently WDRL) this fall. This is a tremendous step forward for the program that is long overdue. It will also be a great recruiting tool for the staff.

As for the bad news, Dennis Carter has been tabbed for the broadcast team. I'm not kidding. Get ready for more mangled names and nonchalance generally reserved for Division III games. I guess I'll have to get two media players running simultaneously to run Jerry Edwards audio with the volume turned down on the video stream. Would it be that hard to get someone who actually gives up a rip about Liberty to be paid by the school to call the games?

Wow, I somehow missed this thread until now, and I've only read your post. You have got to be kidding me right. Who would you have preferred, Ray Jones? And how in the world could you prefer Jerry "I never give the score" Edwards? Have you heard Jerry lately? He stumbles all over the place now! Dennis is a great play-by-play guy and the folks at Liberty Channel have been trying to get him back on games at a higher rate for years. He is the most watched and best Loved on air talent WSET has and probibly the best ever here. Now I'm riled up. I will now pull myself out of this fight because he is also a great friend of mine. I still can't believe this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know that I've ever heard him call anything. I probably wouldn't like him though as we've discussed commentators we like before, and there's only like 2 I've ever not hated. But anyway, I think it's pretty obvious that those standing up for him, probably know him in some form or another. So it makes it hard to take your opinion at face value.

I like Dennis Carter as well. I actually prefer him to Ray Jones. I also enjoy Edwards on the radio. I think if you compare what LU puts up on TV, it actually does fairl well compared to larger schools. (Did you ever watch some of those MAC games on WDRL).

let's take the personal stuff out of it while we speak of dennis carter. i think he does a great job with 13 sports, but as a play by play guy, he nedds work IMO. im not bashing him, just my opinion. hopefully DC will do a good job. if you are friends with dennis great. and as his friend you can defend him, but be ready for any criticism.

Considering the fact that I actually go to the games instead of watching on TV (with few exceptions), I have nothing negative to say about DC. I'm just happy our football team is getting on TV...now lets get hockey on there as well.

. I can HONESTLY say I enjoy hearing him call games, can you really do that with any of the other choices over the years? (with the possible exception of Mike Tilly).

I really don't have an opinion on Dennis Carter either way.

However, that weather guy Matt Ferguson at WSET is a real piece of work. I wouldn't care if he failed to notice a tornado warning and disappeared completely.
