Liberty University is continuing construction and expansion on all sides of campus. The next project: a new paintball facility. The sport is growing in popularity, and Liberty even fields its own team.

Scott Hawkins, LU Paintball Coach - "It's exciting. It's face paced and it's captured the imagination of a lot of our, the interest of a lot of our students."

In fact, when the school first formed a club team for paintball, nearly 200 students signed up. Only the top 15 made the team, in a recent competition. The team didn't have a "home field" to practice on, until now.

I'm lovin' what the school is doing. This type of thing is a bottom up approach... find out what the students enjoy and then build it for them. There are TONS of places that are really behind the times... I'm excited to see LU work hard to make the mountain an enjoyable place to spend 4 years. Students always complain that there is nothing to do... this type of thing helps alleviate that problem...

When I was at LU my roommates and friends played paint ball in random places... including on opposite sides of Wards Ferry Road (where we lived)... unsuspecting drivers weren't happy.

Paintball is WAY too much fun. Nothing like getting together with your closest friends and shooting them with paint.

I would have loved to have seen this at LU while I was there...although they have effectively torn down every tree that I used to run by on my favorite trails on the mountain...

That is so awesome! Paintball rocks. What about students bringing their own markers on campus? And is the field going to be open to regular students? I wasn't real clear on that.

Awesome...
...now all the students who can't play intramurals b/c their fields are a shopping "collonade" will have something to do.

The mall isn't going where the intramural fields are. Didn't we already go over that?

Before anyone freaks over El Scorcho- please note the date of his post. I'm bringing back this thread because of THIS:
