Can't believe this hasn't come up yet. In probably one of the biggest fights in the past 10 years, De Le Hoya and Mayweather go at it this weekend. Who wins?

I agree $54 or whatever is steep even for this fight( you gotta have lots of friends to make it worth it)....i think mayweather will win, but if he doesn't i will laugh my tail off as he tries to reason WHY he lost. Pretty boy gets a beating though in my opinion.

it may be...but I just don't think many people are interested in boxing anymore....it has its niche that is for sure....but widespread appeal....not so much...pro wrestling has a more loyal audience then boxing at this point

Boxing is dying BJ...there is no denying that....boxing fans hate the fact, but they even admit it...its a niche sport....people like it...but it doesn't have the mainstream appeal it once did....

I think they are banking of this fight to revive boxing again...but there have been many of those in the past 5-6 years and it hasn't seem to revive boxing.....UFC has taken off and I am pretty sure has passed Boxing in overall PPV buys and money made.....

A big problem is the lack of names and talent in the heavyweight division. Boxing REALLY started going downhill after Tyson went to the slammer and was followed by a bunch of imposters. Lennox Lewis was good...but being from Britain and all prim and proper...he didn't have the WOW FACTOR to keep the sport going.

Boxing's popularity is waning. But its not on life support quite yet. It just needs to be better administrated and marketed.

As for the Cinco de Mayo card tomorrow night, it sets up quite a bit like the Whitaker-Chavez fight in San Antonio back in '93. Its not a great matchup from a stylistic standpoint and Oscar is going to be frustrated by Whitaker's movement. I see Floyd winning by unanimous decision. But Oscar could put Pretty Boy away if he can get clean looks.

I guy who I cover down here in Houston is in the co-main event named Rocky Juarez. I'm anxious to see how he does since a victory will certainly raise his profile in the sport and get him another title shot.

Just got done watching the fight...Pretty good fight...Nothing that really got me into it. Floyd is a great defenisve fighter and Oscar looked pretty darn tired after the 8th round...I think that there will be a re-match even though Floyd said that he was done but when you are getting paid over $10 mil for the fight I think you will see this one again.

gosh it's hard to be done for either...Oscar got 25 million for this fight and Floyd got 10million.....you cant blame these guys for not coming back if people are willing to throw that kind of money at you


The fight was pretty good...seemed like it flew by though...i enjoyed watching it on HD b/c i pretty much would just watch all the famous people in the crowd....Leo, J-Lo, M Anthony, Tommy Lesorda and a few others were in the back the entire time...some black guy kept hitting on J-lo....maybe it was puffy

Yeah I thought that Oscar might have 1 more in him...was not the case but I agree with you that the fight seemed like it was over in like 10 minutes...How about Larry Merchant's question to Oscar in the end...Merchant has two more fights left to broadcast with HBO and then he is gone...I am gonna miss that old guy.
