It's a great day to be a Sox fan, reports are flying out of New York that if the Sox sweep the Yanks that Torre is gone. I just can't see that happening. BTW how does the bottom feel Skank fans!!!!!

Yea, I am so sick of hearing O it's only April... But the Sox and Skanks don't play in Sept this year so every game is very important right now.

I love the way the Red Sox fans are handling this. They're basically blowing their load right now in April when just last year they had a huge lead and the Yankees came back. I've never heard a group of fans make such a big deal about series in April. You can tell they're not used to being good.

well all the Red Sox fans in my family are far from "blowing their load" we know the history....its always nice to see the Yankees struggling...regardless of when it is....to be honest I am not sure how many Red Sox fans are truly excited...they are happy the Yankees are struggling...but Red Sox fans are a very cautious bunch....its more of the national media going crazy over the Yankee thing...

once again I blame espn

MLB frontloaded the schedule with us and them so that makes them important now...BTW the Yanks are in trouble, you can't ignore it. There pitching is in the tank. I can't remember the last time I heard John Sterling say "The Yankees win...TTTTTTHHHHHHHEEEEE YANKEES win

but they are the f'ing yankees...this is why i can't count them out....but this is by far the worse i have seen them in a long, long, long, long, long time....

these games are important...but so are all the other games in between....the Red Sox always seem to hold their own against the yankees every year in the regular season...but its all those other games that just get in the way....

It had to happen eventually right? The Yankees are nowhere near as bad as they've looked so far. I am realistic about this like most true Sox fans. The season is 162 games long. The Yankees will be fine once they're all healthy.

On a side note, I think it's time for Manny to start showing up on time in the spring. He's batting .193 after 22 games. Come on! If he had been there for the whole spring, the rust would be gone by now...

exactly....most true Sox fans know the history...yes its always great to beat the yankees and these games mean a whole lot...but records mean nothing in April...nothing....which is why i doubt most red sox fans are blowing their load....

the yankees and the red sox are probably my two least favorite teams in baseball, and i'd have to say that I usually find myself cheering for the yankees when they play just because red sox fans are so freaking annoying

i can understand that...i am a red sox fan, but i can understand people hating both teams...but how are Red Sox fans any more annoying then the arrogant Yankee fans???

Any true Red Sox fan (i.e. those on the wagon prior to 2004, who've donned the blue, red and white through Buckner, Grady Little, et al) is wary even if the Sox are up 10 games on the Yanks with only 1 game to play...having said that, it is always nice to win and know the Yanks lost and then push them further into the basement of the division with head to head wins (today was a minor setback, but last night was great.) :nod

Having just caught them in action at Camden Yards, I will say that Ortiz and company look decent with a little evidence of rust on some of the bats and ptiching is looking good, especially Papelbon. (I must say that Willie Mo Pena's grand slam was freaking awesome in person :popcorn which was made even better since it was like being at Fenway as 70% of the stadium was Red Sox fans...in fact, just about my entire section right next to First Base was Red Sox fans.) That's great, a ton of Orioles fans' season tickets seats inhabited by Red Sox nation, but I digress.

A lot of your guys have gotten just as arrogant if not more lately.

The easiest way to explain the difference is this: Red Sox fans have gotten mad about the new ESPN commercial where Ortiz puts on a Yankees hat. Yankees fans just laugh. They don't have the inferiority complex that Boston fans do.

ahhh....i see....well, its not really THAT funny....but not because of the yankees/red sox fans....i don't find many of those sportcenter commercials funny....but i do hate espn, that may be why

i don't really know how fans can be both arrogant and have an inferiority complex all at the same time...i think you just hate hearing about the redsox/yankees all the time....

everybody knows how arrogant yankee fans are...they always will be like that...red sox fans probably do have an inferiority complex...but years and years and years of being beat by the yankees will do that to a fan...i've been a red sox fan all my life...i remember when i was 5 when my family was in Japan (my dad was in the navy) there would be a few baseball games on the military tv station and i remember watching the red sox on tape delay like 2 days after it happened...my dad already knew who won, but we still watched....they are the first sports team i ever watched....and all the paranoia along the way has grown on me...

I hate the yankees and hate how their fans are....and much like what Peter Parker said, the Yankees could be back 10 games with only a game left in the season and Red Sox fans are still worried....i guess its only other red sox fans understand.....

i still don't think many red sox fans are "blowing their load" like you said....most red sox fans are like spiderman over there and myself....cautious and just hoping it doesn't fall apart later in the season....

the inferiority thing i can not argue, because there is no doubt that its there

and this book is over....

The way you can have people who are both arrogant and have an inferiority complex is as simple as looking at you and looking at GMTB/M. He talks crap every win that Boston gets, acts like they're God's gift to baseball, and doesn't shutup while they're winning. However, let them drop into 2nd or 3rd place like last year, and he's nowhere to be found. Then you have guys like you and Spidey who are too scared to say anything right now because you know what could happen down the line.

Well, seasoned BoSox fans try to enjoy the present success, yet still have a healthy dose of apprehension (probably due to the Joe Buck line from 2003 eerily echoed during the Cubs disintegration that year, "Only 5 defensive outs away from the World Series" [que 01LUGrad] and freaking Aaron Boone.)

Like the saying goes in New England, "If the season ended at the All-Star Break, the Sox would have like 20 Championships." Since there are 80 something games after that, you get the ulcer-having, apprehensive, 'we just need a few more games lead' Red Sox fans. Oh, and as a side note, Red Sox fans freaking love that Yank Mariano Rivera...he even got a standing 'O' on opening day at Fenway when he was introduced after the Ring Ceremony...Classic Red Sox moment...but, again, I digress, let the bats awaken and Manny not get cold feet again in the middle of the year..."Go Sox."

but that is GMTM about everything...not a good example....he likes to talk crap....he makes me laugh though....gotta love him

yankees fans are still absolute retards....world championship this world championship that....i'd say 50% of yankee fans don't even meet the criteria needed to be a true team fan *coughdannycough*....

short story....with my buddy at a ws/yanks game...this is back when the ws were baaaad...stands pretty much half full at the park. some dude in a trench coat about 10 rows up yells at my buddy wearing a sox hat...."HEY, YOU DOWN DERE WIT DA WHITE SOX HAT ON.." we turn around...."YOU A WHITESOX FAN!????"...."apparently" "WHERE ARE YOUR RINGS!??? WHERE ARE YOUR RINGS!!??" hes showing us the back of his right hand and pointing to the ring finger of it with his left....."congrats on your world championships 50 years ago" and my quip - "hey how bout them knicks" .....he didn't seem to want to talk about them....i think thats a big reason i hate the yankees....the rest of the reason has to do with media coverage and the rest of the godawful fans they have...

sox fans?....just as many superficial fans....but only slightly less annoying.....most just talk like idiots.....fever pitch made me want to drown a kitten....

yeah i can....do you know how many cubs fans are superficiall.....zillions...

what made alot of redsox fans superficial was the fact that many of them didn't care that they had gone so long w/out a championship....as long as there was gear to wear of people to talk to about it then they were good...
