I know we have a number of college baseball fans on the board. The City of Lynchburg is hosting this years ODAC Tourney at City Stadium Thurs-Sunday. Here are a couple links with info...LC opens up tonite at 7 vs Bridgewater:

Plus, the article in this AM's paper:
Lynchburg College will host the Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball tournament at City Stadium today, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will feature the conference's top six teams and many former area high school stars will compete in the double elimination event.

Well....LC lost 2-1 last night...one run unearned...and perhaps if not the E6, then the pitcher does not get rattled and maybe we win 1-0. Today will be tough...as LC plays the top seed VA Wesleyan...in the screwy 6 team double elim format. If LC wins today...then the tourney is wide open and I like the chances.

Read and his cousin, AARON, did most of the damage. BTW...Aaron is from Heritage, with Drew Ellkin from Glass hitting the E6 ball that led to the two runs.

I understand it's double elimination, so when does LC play again?

Played at 3 today...vs the top seed. We WON 9-6 to really mess up the bracket. Play Sat vs W&L at 3 PM...both teams with one loss. Very possible to go into Sunday with three teams having one loss.

Thanks for the report, Fumble. Dennis Carter said the same thing on the news tonight. How has Jeff, Jr. done so far in the 2 tournament games?

I'm coaching our T-ball game tomorrow, but maybe I'll swing by the Hillcats stadium afterwards to watch some ODAC action and pull for the home town Hornets.

$8...but that gets you a full day pass....no individual game prices. Good baseball to watch....and a nice way to spend the day.

Are any concession stands open? I can't watch a baseball game without a hot dog. :tailgate

Concessions are open...but they have a strict no alcohol or cider policy...

LC defeats the preppies from W&L 14-2. Jon Crews, a local kid from Heritage, goes 5-5 with 4 doubles to pace the 20 hit attack. The Hornets play Hampden-Sidney Sunday at 1 PM. LC must win two on Sunday to advance to regional play.

What's the schedule for tomorrow? I didn't feel like paying $8 for only one game I wanted to watch, so instead I spent $30 and bought MVP College Baseball 2007.

1 PM. LC vs Hampden-Sidney
4 PM. Winner vs Bridgewater

I can certainly understand the reluctance to spend $8 for one game...which is why I've been out there since game two of the tournament. Heck, my wife has only missed one of the tournament games, too...I think she's hooked on college baseball.

I'm hooked on college baseball, that's why I played 10 games today. Yea, I was in front of the tv way too much.

Sadly, Lynchburg College loses to HSC today at City Stadium, final score 3-2, in the semi-final game of the ODAC tournament.

Thanks for showing up. It was a nice run for a very young team.

Bridgewater ended up winning 7-0 on a 2-hit shutout.

What beautiful day to be outside on a Sunday afternoon for a baseball game! For the record, freshman Fumble ended the season batting .276 and was 10 for 10 in stolen base attempts, with only one fielding error for the entire season.

Thanks...he's pretty disappointed with his season...he had two bad stretches...
...a 1 for 17 and a 2 for 30.

LC loses their:
1.starting RF (played DH in the tourney due to an hammie pull)...but the replacement played great out there
2. starting C...threw out about 60% of baserunners this year and helped gell a very young pitching staff
3. #1 pitcher. Struggled today on 2 days rest...but was a bulldog.

Next year should be a very good ride for the Hornets.
