Back in the olden days (10 yrs ago) when I came to LU, part of the application process was an essay explaining how I felt I could benefit the LU community and how LU could benefit my life based on the guidelines set forth in the Liberty Way.

As for exemptions b/c of where people come from... that's a very weak argument...

For example, when driving you must follow the rules of the road where you are, not where you came from. In texas the cars coming off of a highway have the right-of-way... most of the rest of the planet does the opposite... cars coming off of a highway have to yield to the traffic on the side streets.... What rule do you follow? The one that applies to your location.

Kids go to Mexico for Spring Break b/c there is a drinking age of 18... I've never heard of a kid going and then saying "Ohh, I'm from Virginia where the rule is 21... so I won't drink."

The kid is dumb for doing it and especially dumb for giving his name to a reporter.

I also havent signed anything..... ever. Also isn't that what the Appeals Court they are putting in is for??? Maybe its tickets idk but I thought it was for reps. Anyway it is easy to not know a rule unless you hear it from somewhere else. Thinking back I kinda wish they did that for parking, especially since where you can/cant park has been changed a bunch in the past couple of years. That would be dumb, though because thered be less tickets and less reps. Just a thought

the ticket appeal process was the worst when I attended. Write out your appeal on the back of your ticket, submit it in the box and they'll stick an "apeal denied" letter in your PO box a few days later. What a fair system.

I actually won my last two ticket appeals. If your appeal is well informed and fully explains your situation, theyll give you the benefit of the doubt. I think the reason they deny so many appeals is because people are trying to make a case for one where there really isnt one.

I can't remember the specifics but one of the few tickets I had got, was a rock solid defense. I had to pay anyway.

i've been told that it is ridiculous to even try to appeal a ticket if you're a freshman.

i'd say a good conclusions is: if you were not supposed to be parked somewhere, and you got a ticket... don't appeal it. if you got screwed, then appeal it.

what does the money from the tickets go to? the gazebo at the "LU"??

The money goes to the "General Fund."
LUPD wants the money to go towards more parking and road improvements.

Thats right...next time one of us should just go, "Excuse me, don't you know who I am and who WE are?"
I would love to see the response they'd give us.

maybe we should have "accidentally" nailed a passing lupd with a flying hillbilly "golf ball." haha.

of course, after watching half of us play (including me), there is a pretty good chance it may have happened TRULY on accident!
