I busted out laughing watching that clip and, believe it or not, Joey Crawford just kicked my door in and T'ed me up, too. Something about setting an example for the board.

You've got guys like Stephen Jackson dragging that league down the tubes by its ankles but Tim Duncan is a problem? What a joke. A joke we're not allowed to laugh at, apparently.

I really don't think Joey wants the attention as some are suggesting. I really think he was just tired of all the complaining. He went way way too far though. Reminds me of the movie Forget Paris with Billy Crystal. The sub-text of the movie was that he was an NBA official. He gives Kareem a second T and Kareem says to him, "but this is my farewell tour!" He retorts " Well let me be the first to say FAREWELL!" Great movie by the way.

That was the dumbest thing I have ever seen...if that happens in the playoffs joey crawford should be gone....he is an idiot anyways....he blows the whistle if you look at him the wrong way.....

Also its not like Tim Duncan is one of the punks in the league, he is a good guy and it is just ridiculous....just fire the ref!

C'mon Scar, are you serious? You have watched enough of the NBA. Tim Duncan has a distinguished career and has been a quiet star since he joined the league. He deserves more respect than that. Crawford is a good ref, but he definitely likes the limelight. Crawford is the only one that should have to answer for this controversy.

The conspiracy theory - The NBA is tired of the low ratings when a small market team like the Spurs plays in the NBA championship. David Stern encourages Crawford to create a little controversy with the quiet giant to help the ratings in case they return to the championship. After all, the NBA isn't really concerned about cleaning up their image. The bad boy persona sells.

It does??? Is this why ratings are down?? Is that why a few weeks ago when the NHL on NBC went up against the NBA on ABC the NHL beat them out in the ratings??? The bad boy image is killing the nba...I love basketball, I love watching all levels, so I will never go away from it...but for many this is just not the case

Postman, I am not saying that I like it or agree with it. I would love for the NBA to get serious about cleaning up their image. Ratings are down, but NBA attendance is solid and merchandise sales are up.

I was just about to say the same, Summy. The bad boy image does sell merchandise. Ratings are down, however, because the games are boring.

yeah, hold up there.....meaningless nba action vs playoff hockey??...and hockey is a sport where badboyism (whatever the eff that is) is idolized and encouraged....bad example...

i've always disliked crawford. hes a great ref but he also thinks hes the attitude police...sure the whining in basketball has gotten worse but to be honest i think it is now on par with the other 2 major sports in the country....football players and baseball players have always gone batshoot insane at everything....basketball in the recent years finally caught up....

crawford brings too much attention on himself.....if there is talk about the refs after any game in any sport, they didn't do their job....

 I don't watch the NBA nearly as much as I did in the past... now I see what I've been missing. That had to be the worst call ever. I hope it was just Crawford having a bad night.

I'm not saying this particular situation is the correct call at all, but Tim Duncan is by far the biggest cry baby in the league. He whines about every little thing...in my opinion he whines three times as much as Vlade Divac, and that my friends is a lot!!!!

gotta say I'm pretty surprised at that.

rare for a league to publicly call out an official like that.

the right call though, IMHO

i'd like to see those #'s...unless it was okc/atl then i don't see that happening...

off the court on the court it doesn' tmatter....hockey players beat their wives, drink and drive and do just as much crap as nba stars....noone cares about hockey so you just never hear about it....these guys beat the everloving tick out of each other and everyone loves it.... lindross/ rob ray/ probert/ thornton/ mccarty were/are all considered badboys and loved by all....

so i fail to see how its different unless you mean "different" as in "they are white"
