Yeah, I am pretty passionate about this. I'm passionate about everything having to do with Liberty, actually. I love LU, warts and all. I guess I'm particularly passionate about this subject, just because I think it would likely have a large large effect on the school. I think it could affect everything from student morale, to enrollment, to fundraising, etc. I guess in the end I'm just not convinced it's profitable for the university to make that move. Permissible? Yes. Profitable? No, IMHO.

I think that, combined with my previous statement about how I view the law school making the move, just about sums things up for me. I may have to follow HMO's lead and bow out of this one from here on out.

I respect your opinion on this topic, Scorchy, and certainly your passion. LU could use more people like you.

I'm sure that falls under the category of trying to restore the reputation of the team in the eyes of the student body :?: :?: :?:[/quote]

Sorry Im late on this guys, but look, I do not agree with disrespect from players to students or RA's... but the Schilling is our practice facility, thats where we practice and if Ace wants to not wear a shirt then he shouldnt have to. Its not a public hallway, although most students think it is, but it isnt. If he is in the Student Center without his shirt on thats ok thats in the public and i will agree because its a rule, but Alex getting wrote up for not having a shirt on in the Schilling is like and RA walking through the basketball office and seeing me in shorts and writing me up, I think its rediculous... I dont disagree with the Rules at Liberty, but thats the teams PRACTICE FACILITY

I agree with your points but Schilling isn't specifically for basketball. Schilling is a public building with classrooms. You make a good point but probably for a different arguement. Basketball needs its own practice facility.

Thats True, but those Classrooms arent in the gym, there is no need or purpose to walk through the basketball courts. We do need our own facility, but we dont have one so thats our facility

It might be "your's", but it is a shared facility with the KINE classes in there all throughout the day...the courts and multi-purpose area are their classrooms...not to mention students cutting through from the real classroom over there. Was he hurting anyone practicing sans shirt? Nop.? Was the RA just trying to exert some over-zealousness? Probably. But that was no reason for the player to act like a jerk to the RA.

My point is you dont have to cut through the courts... and on the other side of the wall... were it is air conditioned... is where the KINE classes should be... I feel like a player has every right to stand up for himself to an RA like that, and if it means being a jerk, then it means being a jerk, Most of you might disagree but im sorry im siding with ACE on this one... He was where he was supposed to be (where there is no A.C.) No one NEEDS to walk through there, Its the Basketball teams place to practice, and the RA just needs to mind his own business.

Yes...if you have been talking with a professor...you DO have to cut through if you are on your way to class. The professors' offices are on that side of the building, as well. That makes it a public place. If The Liberty Way states wear a shirt, then wear a shirt. Certainly don't make a jack @$$ out of yourself by ripping into an RA. This is the EXACT attitude that make the "rank and file" at the University not care for the MBB program and why the new staff will have to make big strides to win back the students and faculty.

All Students (except RAs) would love it to see someone rip into a power tripping RA... I dont think ACE made a jack @$$ out of himself by doing it either... on another note, So you are telling me that is the ONLY way into the schilling? And yes the liberty way says wear a shirt, i agree with you there, but if guys can swim in lahaye in front of Numerous people... why cant ACE workout in what is the TEAM PRACTICE FACILITY without a shirt on?

Why don't you just close off the basketball courts with the dividers??? That way if guys feel the need to work out without their shirts on its ok since the dividers will have it separated from the rest of the Schilling....wow...what a crazy idea!!!

I do agree its dumb, and we should have a practice facility...but we don't so you have to deal with that, unless of course you just decide to shut it off with that magical divider....

I know this may not work as well as I want it to, but people dont NEED to walk through the Vines Center, and the team sometimes practices there too.

Mind his own business???? Im just wondering if this is the attitude from the RD tenure. He was breaking a rule. An RA approached him. Idk what the RA said, but to react the way he did is completly unnecessary. With that said everybody does things they regret, so it not really a big issue IF stuff like this stops.

If the tennis team has to keep their shirts on outside where there is also no air conditioning, then the bball team should to. Whats the big deal about putting a shirt on anyway? Ace should've just put one on instead of making a big deal about it.

This is ridiculous.....the RA should have just let it be and Ace should have just had a shirt on......

Both parties were wrong...but, its still a dumb rule and the only productive thing that RA's do is make sure people don't burn down the dorms

Its still a rule, and honestly if we take a situation into the real world, where a manager/supervisor says you need to do something a certain way, even if it isnt a big deal, you need to respect that. He didnt just disrespect the RA, he disrespected this school, and just because you feel that RA's are stuck up and out to get us, doesnt mean the rules shouldnt be taken seriously. Yes some of them are dumb and have loopholes, but its the same way in real life and one day hes gonna have to get a job and hes gonna have rules in place that arent right and wrong issues. He cant get away with that there, why should he here?

Excellent point, Teeny. The merits of the rule are hardly the issue.

I think you like RA's....well then all RA's are guilty of breaking the Liberty Way.....I have counted several times where people who don't obey dress code are given a break because they are friends with a particular RA.....Maybe it should be an honor system where people turn each other in??

Also, this is what has not been addressed, the fact that ACE will not have this show up on his account

Blatant generalization. It's also completely beside the point.

Why not? Schollie $ doesn't cover disciplinary fines.

Im not saying RA's are always good, or perfect. Someone came in last night around 5 minutes late because he had to park his car in the pit, but since he was on the dorm 5 minutes before 12 the RA let him go. With that said Ive also had an RA who gave himself reps for being late for convo. I understand what youre saying in that some RA's are crooked in their judgement but that doesnt mean we can just disregard all of them because they have that title, and it defintely doesnt give us the right to disregard the rules just because we dont agree with them.

You sound like a 12 year old, who's father told him he couldnt go to a party. "That's so unfair!" Guy, life is this way. The system is not perfect as it is run by men. Make friends with an RA, and respect the rest of them. You'll be fine.
