You baseball guys will find this one interesting. I heard of this for the first time a few weeks ago but it seems like they're almost done with it. App's new facility is artificial turf. Big deal, right? Even the base paths are turf. The only dirt on the entire field is the pitcher's mound and home plate area.

Super, you're a sport management guy: is Appy's field the first one in America to have brown turf between the bases? I've never heard of that before in my life!

No. When I first heard about it the person that told me referenced Navy, Louisville, and Washington State's field and showed me some pictures of that. There's definitely not many.

that was my issue w/ it- gonna tear someone up.

I'd imagine one of the advantages would be the transition between infield dirt and outfield grass is no longer an issue (bad hops, etc) as well as the obvious savings on maintenance.

the horns stadium looks like a "mini" diamond that is in richmond..home of the richmond braves. nice touch with the buses in the outfield. what a bunch of necks!
