I love how everyone is hearing things, saying they're hearing them, and then not saying what they hear, but putting ...'s at the end to make us wonder.

Cowherd was right about message boards.

yeah, I hate that...the only name I have heard from numerous people, some with connections, some not...is Duckett...so I am not sure how he is out of the picture all of a sudden

I just hate when some random person says, "from what I am hearing JB is closing in on his guy" yes says nothing else...its one thing if it GMTM or Lang or others that have some inside info on some of these things....but some random guy saying it....its just dumb

If McKay, Duckett, Gillen, and all present and former LU assistants are out of the picture, here's our short list, thanks to help from Sly (and my delete key):
Tim Carter, Assistant Coach - Florida State

Mark Cline, Assistant Coach - Oklahoma

David Conrady, Associate Head Coach - Chattanooga

John Cooper, Associate Head Coach - Auburn

Ray Giacoletti, Former Head Coach - Utah

Rob Lanier, Assistant Coach - Virginia

Ron Lievense, Head Coach - Barton College

Larry Mangino, Assistant Coach - Air Force Academy

Steve Merfeld, Former Head Coach - Evansville

Mark Phelps, Associate Head Coach - Arizona State

Ed Schilling, Executive Director of Champions Academy/Former Wright St. Head Coach

Brad Stevens, Assistant Coach - Butler

Has anyone else been scratched off Sly's list?

Never ask a man to reveal his sources. If wehat he says proves accurate then you know his sources are legit. Accuracy is how you earn respect.

true....i guess time will tell...but its just hard for me to believe when everything i am hearing and everybody else is hearing for that matter say that Duckett is the front runner for the job...then Dox comes out and says he is out of the running....

but you are right Sly...time will tell

JB's got his eye on someone. Let's see what happens. If it falls through, then I hope Alex gets a second look. That's all I said. I have nothing further to add.

If you think that Duckett is JB's target, then fine. I'm sure that you have your reasons to assume that. If I choose to not name names or go into detail on what I think at this time, then I hope that you can respect that.

Well I got it straight from the "interim" head man himself and Im not afraid to say that. Even when I wrote for the Champion last year I didn't go on anonymous anything, Id go from direct quotes, and then name the people in the articles (now of course most of my articles were game recaps so take that for what it's worth).

I know we hate comparing football and basketball programs (and their respective coaches), but it appears that Duckett has a much stronger resume' that even Coach Rocco:
College Education: Bachelor's degree in education from North Carolina, 1979; Master's degree in education from North Carolina in 1980

Coaching Career: Graduate Assistant Coach, North Carolina, 1980; Assistant Coach, Harvard, 1981-82; Assistant Coach, R.J. Reynolds High School, 1983; Assistant Coach, Jacksonville, 1984; Assistant Coach, Central Florida, 1985; Assistant Coach, South Carolina, 1986; Assistant Coach, Wichita State, 1987-92; Assistant Coach, R.J. Reynolds High School, 1993; Head Coach, Fayetteville State, 1994-98; Head Coach, Winston-Salem State, 1999-2001; Assistant Coach, South Carolina, 2001-present

Coaching Honors: CIAA Tournament Coaches Award, 1999, 2000; NCAA Division II South Atlantic Coach of the Year, 1999
Of course, if Dox is right, Duckett's not coming here anyway, but it doesn't hurt to wish.

BJ, if your source doesn't want to be named though, you can't name him as a journalist. Journalist go to jail rather than give up a source even in criminal investigations. Some folks won't give you info unless they can remain anonymous for obvious reasons.

That is understandable. I didn't come across a situation like that in my writing but I can understand where that would be necessary.

He hasn't said anything. All he said is, "It's not Duckett." Anyone can say that and has a great chance of being right. He hasn't named a person of who it's going to be instead of Duckett, so all we have to do is pick someone else, anyone else, and he's right.

Cider Jim - Rocco spent time in the NFL and at programs like Texas & UVa. Duckett's resume is nice, but I wouldn't say it was on par with Danny's.

As for sources, the info is all that matters.

Sly, my only point about the resume' (which wasn't clear) is that Duckett had been a head coach for 6 years at 2 different colleges, but LU was Danny's first heading coaching job. Plus, Duckett is half a decade older since he's pushing 50.

He hasn't given us any info other than some crap a freshman in Dorm 23 could give us and both could be right.

I think Jeff Barber has his eye on someone and I'm willing to go so far as to say that it's not Randy Dunton OR Mel Hankinson.
