How about this hire for Ian?

Matt Bevins—LU alum, Freeze road veteran, and a genuine football mind—would absolutely excel as a GM. Anyone who thinks hiring amateurs could fill this role clearly doesn’t understand what it takes. I’m not sure he’d leave his current position, probably not, but he’s exactly the type of person the AD should pursue: someone capable of making smart roster decisions, cutting through bureaucratic nonsense, and keeping the program focused on actual football instead of letting unqualified people wander in and slow everything down.

It’s Liberty. There will ALWAYS be unqualified people wandering in and making decisions. Especially when it comes to athletics. It’s the way it has always been and it doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. Ian has had the most control over the Department since the school was founded but even then…..

Yeah, yeah, the old “Liberty is doomed to be run by unqualified randos forever” routine. Cute. But if that were actually true, we wouldn’t even be having a conversation about someone like Matt Bevins.
Because here’s the reality: Bevins is the exact opposite of the caricature you’re describing. LU alum. Freeze road veteran. A guy who actually knows football at a level way beyond the armchair crowd. He’s the kind of person who would bring competency, continuity, and actual football IQ into a GM-style role—if he’d even consider leaving his current job, which he probably wouldn’t. So no, we don’t have to accept this fate of “eternal unqualified wanderers” making decisions. The AD can target people who know what they’re doing. Bevins is the blueprint: someone who can evaluate talent, manage a roster, and cut through the nonsense instead of adding to it.
If you want to keep pretending Liberty is incapable of hiring anyone competent, that’s on you. But don’t act like people at Bevins’ level don’t exist. They do.
And some of us would rather aim for that than settle for the Joe-Blow fatalism you’re selling. That's just using Liberty athletics for personal gain.
