McKay has proven by now he knows how to evaluate players but I'll never get used to seeing high school sophomores committing. The move to CUSA has been good for recruiting though, we just keep adding more length and it seems like overall athleticism is improving as well.

How many mid-major programs do you think already have a '26 recruiting and commits forum?

Hopefully it's the result of McKay & Co getting in early before these kids blow up and bigger offers come flooding in. This team is shaping up to have some length in the next few years.

He's a local kid who appears to have reclassified when he went to the school up in Ohio. In other words, based on Coach McKay's recent penchant for having guys come in as early enrollees he likely will be with the Class of 2025.

We just got a commitment from 6'5" CG Eli Sancomb. Best as I can tell/recall, if we can seal the deal in November with a NIL, this will be the first 4 star we have ever signed out of HS.

Considering the commitments we have, I would not be at all surprised if all 3 are now off the table. Maybe we offer a bigger guy, or it's very possible we fill the 3 or more slots still open with transfers.

Reece Davidson signed his NLI today, completing a 3 man FR class which will be easily the highest rated in our history. Versatile 6'8" F who was coached in HS by Nate Valentine. Valentine also coached some guy named Kyle Rode.

This is a good recruit. Towson’s sizes gave LU a lot of problems. It’s too bad with all those sizes in the bench, none are ready to play. McKay continues with his small lineup and it’s does not go well against taller and athletic team like Towson. There was a lot of mismatch on defense and McKay did not seem to make an immediate adjustment. Porter was abused on defense.

You make it sound like we got crushed. We lost by 3 . Towson did dominate the boards (especially on the offensive end) and block 7 shots, so yeah, their size hurt us, but going 7-30 from 3 hurt us more. Towson is not that much bigger or more athletic than FAU, and small ball worked pretty well against them. Looks like Smith is getting close to 100%, and when Ihnen can play we will have a lot more options.

Nonetheless, the team cannot handle the size difference. What happens when the opponents defends the threes and the no threes are made and plus the sizes of the opponents is too much. Like this Bradley game. Then what? McKay continues to start the 2 small guards that is clearly cannot defend the bigger guards.

I can agree with both sides of all this but I think our schedule hurts us as well. I know all the reasons why our schedule sucks but playing the Carolinas (Rocky Mt. version) and Kentucky Christian just does not prepare a team for high level competition. With that said, I like this team, and I think we will come back and beat Bradley.

I do like the team. I will continue to cheer for them. My concern is that can the team sustain this kind of basketball throughout the year. The starters are undersized against the opponents. Harper keeps guarding the 6’11 opponents. I am not sure if this is sustainable.

I agree with you. We won’t be winning any national championships with 6’4” power forwards unless we find a Charles Barkley out there somewhere. Thankfully, we do seem to be making some size gains in recent recruiting. A healthy Ihnen will be helpful.
