Thought I'd start this thread as a landing spot for commentary and questions about what the team will look like going into next year.
Anything posted for the immediate future is going to be even more speculative than usual because of decisions yet to be made (or at least made public) regarding who is going to be returning from this year's roster.
Does Metheny return? He participated in Senior day festivities, and apparently told York that he is planning to get started in a career in real estate. My personal feeling is that winning the CUSA tourney while being named MVP and then getting the chance to play in the dance makes it unlikely he changes his mind. Tough to top that as an end to your college career.
Peter and Maughmer? I mention them together to save keystrokes, when in fact they are totally separate cases (although quite similar.) If anyone has any insight as to what the timetable might be on their petitions for extended eligibility, I'd be curious to know. I certainly don't expect anything til after the tourney, and if it is turned down (likely IMHO) they will have the option of taking it to court. In any event, Ritchie and his staff need to be scouring the portal for possible replacements. The portal opens this Monday and continues through 4/22.
Outgoing transfers? Tough for me to imagine Spell not leaving. Making the call right now that he transfers to Cedarville. Other possibilities could include Kai Yu, Will Gibson and Curtis Blair. All of these would fall into the category of "seeking minutes." Among the players in the current rotation, the only one I could possibly see getting poached by a bigger program is Aquino. Would have been more likely if he had kept putting up the numbers he did early in the season. I think it's a long shot now.
The 3 November signees should all be on the roster, unless someone changes their mind about coming, in which case it is not clear what would happen. The new Aid Agreement rule seems to say this is still not acceptable, but no longer states what the penalty would be (if any).
