The most successful program on Liberty Mountain deserves its own forum. We give Coach Green and the Lady Flames their props while breaking down their run to the Big Dance once again.

Asia broke her foot early in game.

Bigs were the difference down the stretch. Stout was great today. KY’s top two posts fouled out. KY took foot off gas too early up by 17. Went cold. Flames crawled back into it.

Down 1, they got a stop but couldn’t gather the rebound. Then had to foul.

The SLOB call was a bit of a head-catcher. Threw over the top to Smuda on the weak side, purpose was to hit Hess for a tying 3 coming around. I get what they’re trying to do there, but Smuda is too weak. Too soft. She falls down barely touched, turnover.

Hess banked a three to cut it to one. But with 2.8 seconds left on a KY SLOB, we didn’t foul. Could’ve had one more look.

EOG comes down to personnel and play calls. It’s where coaching really becomes critical. LU didn’t have the right personnel on the floor, IMO. And the play call on the one SLOB was….very high risk.

Hard way to lose when the players get you back into it.

A gallant effort by the team. They fought hard. Wrong combination of players on the floor helped KU dominate for 2-3 quarters of the game. I still believe it’s time for a new coach. Bring in better talents and compete against higher level schools.

Yeah. The last 3 possessions were poorly executed. I loved the idea of the cross court low post OB play. You would *think* you super Senior would be able to stay on her feet and hit the shot and possibly draw the foul. But…. Not fouling was a head scratcher. I’m positive that was the plan but not sure why no one executed it :dontgetit

The cross-court play was not for a shot by Smuda, but actually a pass by Maura to Hess coming over the top of a stagger-screen. I’ve seen it run before. And Smuda was trying to turn for the pass but got her feet twisted, off-balance.

There’s multiple camera angles that show Hess might’ve been open there.

I’ve run that play for a post shot. Crazy effective. But as you know there be a 78% chance we would have missed the shot :D
