Asia broke her foot early in game.
Bigs were the difference down the stretch. Stout was great today. KY’s top two posts fouled out. KY took foot off gas too early up by 17. Went cold. Flames crawled back into it.
Down 1, they got a stop but couldn’t gather the rebound. Then had to foul.
The SLOB call was a bit of a head-catcher. Threw over the top to Smuda on the weak side, purpose was to hit Hess for a tying 3 coming around. I get what they’re trying to do there, but Smuda is too weak. Too soft. She falls down barely touched, turnover.
Hess banked a three to cut it to one. But with 2.8 seconds left on a KY SLOB, we didn’t foul. Could’ve had one more look.
EOG comes down to personnel and play calls. It’s where coaching really becomes critical. LU didn’t have the right personnel on the floor, IMO. And the play call on the one SLOB was….very high risk.
Hard way to lose when the players get you back into it.
