This time of year again, we see what we need to replace with guys entering the portal. Would expect 4-5 key contributors in the portal today with a few others that got significant playing time.

They need to change the open portal rule. (Which I believe they are in April)

I feel like there might be a lot of roster (maybe even some coaches?) turnover this year. I'm on the outside looking in, but the team just didn't seem to have the same fire/energy/spirit this year. If that is in-fact real and not just something some of us believe to be true, then a shakeup might not be a bad thing.

The portal doesn't officially open until next Monday.

I know we benefit from the transfer portal, but there is an urgent need to impose accountability & restrictions. Jordan White & Xavior Gray have both entered and I am thankful for their contribution. I believe they both have a shot at the NFL. However, this will be the third school they end up attending once it is all said and done. How does this help the student-athlete remain focused on their studies? How does this teach them about longevity and being content? Furthermore, there ought to be something like what they had in the past for those who transfer a second time, which requires them to sit out one year once they transfer.

My final personal opinion and LU bias is they are making a mistake by transferring out of a school that will motivate them and exhort them toward what matters most which is spiritual development.

I could be wrong but I believe both of them graduated already so I think they’re using their last year elsewhere. I expect a lot of the grads with a year left to do the same.

With our NIL resource’s I fully expect our coaches to replace them.

So we've lost KSalt which was expected. But we're now down 3 starting OL that have now hit the portal. That's a big surprise to me. There are also flight tracker rumors happening on X right now regarding a flight from Orlando to LYH Regional from a carrier that has been linked to the UCF Foundation. Surely, Chadwell doesn't leave LU for UCF...

When you look at our depth charts, there really weren't a ton of Seniors on the defensive side of the ball. Jay Hardy, Quinton Reese and Jerome Jolly are it. Our DBs are still on the younger side, so it will be interesting to see if the coaching staff hits the portal hard in search of upgrades. Based purely off of performance from a spectator viewpoint, I'd think CB is our biggest area of need, followed maybe by interior DL.
It'll depend on retention among the 2 deep but I expect to see a bigger emphasis on bringing in P4 underclassmen to add depth rather than plug and play grad transfers. Dexter Ricks should be a very solid CB for us next year (assuming he comes back) but I'd like to see more competition in that room. Beyond CB we should see each position group on defense take a step forward with another year of development that might not require outside help except where transfers hit hardest.

Grad transfers are able to go into the Portal anytime. Undergrads wait until Monday.

Signing day on Wednesday. What a crazy time of year.

All of that while our sitting head coach is being "linked" to the UCF job. Even if it's not true, or if it is but doesn't work out, this whole thing is a six-ring circus. I'm starting to think that the powers-that-be have allowed College football to turn into the wild west because it creates chaos, which in turn creates clicks and views for the big media conglomerates to sell advertising and make more money.

Two more possibly tomorrow.
The Flames are expected to sign two Sunshine State seniors tomorrow: Wiregrass Ranch wide receiver Bryce Randolph and Baker County two-way athlete Davion Dean.

Already a solid class and there are some signs that some other big fish are on the hook.
Just hoping the focus is building more depth in the outside skill positions and the OL.
