Who will be taking the snaps for us next year? It seems to me that we need a running threat and from what I saw yesterday, Burger is not the guy. Not enough speed and a little tentative. I’ve only seen Bradford in pre-game warmups and was not impressed with his arm. Transfer portal? What are your thoughts?

Doesn’t Salter still have one more year (the infamous “Covid year”) of eligibility remaining? Or am I mistaken?

He walked on Senior Day. He’s given every indication he won’t be playing at LU next year. Of course he’s also gave that signal last year when he entered the Portal.

Could yesterday have been the last game for Salter in a Flames uniform?

Salter also had a cryptic message on X that could be interpreted that he’s done at LU.

I think that’s certainly possible. While I will be forever grateful for what he did for this program last year after the tremendous regression this year and the attitude and apathy shown all year this year I won’t be sad to see him go.

Several Basketball players have celebrated senior day twice over the past couple years. Doesn't automatically mean you're done. Though I believe, in Salter's case, he is done.

Salter and Hampton both are red shirt juniors, and I'd assume they both transfer. And as much as I hate it, it certainly appears that Salter and Cooley won't play in our Bowl game.

My money's on Burger as the starter for next season, although I wouldn't be surprised if Bradford started as well. I think we're in good hands with both of them. Our receiver room definitely needs some speed and better hands. They had too many drive killing drops yesterday that obviously didn't help with Salter being way off with his injury.

I think it's Burger, and I'm excited for that. He looked really good at App State and lost the job through no fault of his own. Aguilar lit the world on fire after Burger's injury, but I'd argue he has since regressed below where Burger was playing.

I'm looking forward to seeing him fit in the scheme here. He might be a step back from KSalt in athleticism and speed, but he has a heck of an arm and is an accurate passer in the pocket.

No need to rush Bradford unless he's standing out as the clear #1. He's the guy for the future, and he'll benefit from a year of development running with the 2s consistently and immersing in the system.

There’s no way Salter is coming back and from what I’ve heard I don’t know that we would want him back. I think the rumors that there was friction in the locker room were true and he may have been the problem. I don’t think that’s what you want from your QB1 and the face of your team. When the chips are down you need someone to lead and set an example of positivity, accountability and belief. Salter was a great talent, but he is not those things. While Burger is the favorite to start for the bowl game, I would bet there will be some attention paid by the staff these next 4 weeks to see if anyone in that room is the real future of this team.

I don’t want this to come off as a dog pile but I was remembering that we had concerns about giving Salter a shot. To be fair, I think Salter has improved on and off the field but there are still “rumors” of behavior that is detrimental to the team going unchecked.

Here was my take back in 2021. The point is the most important piece of a consistently successful program is the culture:

July 12th, 2021, 10:38 am#628613
Couple of things:
1. This is a great boost from the marketing side of college football. Bringing in a blue chip with 4 years of eligibility is cool from a fans perspective
However...2. I was on the Cedar Hill sideline for one of Kaidon's games last year and was not impressed. From a pure football side of things, I was shocked that he was valued as a top 15 QB in the country and more so to see his offer list. He consistently held the ball too long and rarely executed the play as called. Used his legs to dance in and out of pocket and relied on his receivers to improvise with him to play pitch and catch (His highlight videos show the same). He struggled with the management of the game and in both halves, cost his team time and yards with very little awareness of the clock. His team was clearly more physically gifted than their opponent and yet he struggled to move the ball consistently, especially in the air. Threw 2 terrible pics that were a result of delayed decision making. Granted, this was one game and I am in no way credentialed as a scout evaluator but I also know talent when I see it.
3. Off the ball behavior was were I was really unimpressed. In short, his attitude was terrible. Not one time did he come to the sideline and fire up his troops. Rather, he would remove his helmet before reaching the sideline so that everyone could see him voice his displeasure with a coach or player(s). Others on the sideline would have to pick him up while he sulked. I am on a sideline most Friday nights in Texas and it stood out as one of the most self centered attitudes I witnessed all year. In fact, the 3 others with me said the same. The coaches seemed to cater to his behavior which led to a really undisciplined sideline as a whole.
4. I hope I am 100% wrong on this kid. He is after all, just a kid. My hope is that he has had a wake up call and will begin to mature around a great program and staff that will instill discipline. I trust the eyes of scout evaluators that all put their reputations on the line to offer him more than mine.
5. However (2), that is not my gut. To go to your "dream school" and not even make it to fall practices because you put yourself above the team with selfish acts is no small thing to overcome. This is the type of kid that can wreck a locker room if he hasn't had a dynamic attitude shift.

Liberty should be a school built on second chances. HCHF is the perfect guy to lead the program of Kaidon Salters and I default my judgement to those who have heard Kaidon's story and heart.

Just my 2 cents and I hope that I am wrong on this one.

I think they grab a transfer QB although the first priority should be receiver and cornerback.

IMO

Transfer/Burger
Burger/transfer
Bradford
Houck

Although from what I heard, Bradford will make a push to be QB1

I'm with R I on this one. I think burger is likely to be the guy but there's a decent chance a transfer comes in and takes the job. The coaching staff wouldn't be doing their job if the next malik willis becomes available and they don't pursue him even with the amount of talent we already have in house.

I am so glad! He did a number on us this year. There's nothing like a team with a QB who quits after the 4th game and fakes his way through the rest of the season. We can do better than this! Let's GOOOO!

I don’t think anyone will be upset about this one. Anyway, on to the bowl game with no splitting practice reps for whoever the starter will be. Hopefully the extra practice for the new QB1 will help in the bowl game and next year.

There was a clear regression in stats in 2024 vs his 2023 campaign. It will be interesting to see where he lands moving forward.

This was expected... I think I'm most surprised by the OL stuff.

I want to give Salter the benefit of the doubt because the coaches really didn’t help him out with some of the play calling and the receivers couldn’t get open half the time.

I'm not sure that he should've played vs. Sam, but then they pulled him and put him back in? Unless there's an unknown justifiably reason for that, to me that was dumb. It also didn't help that the WR's dropped several catchable passes from him and 1 from Burger that would've extended those drives. I do think that we win that game with a healthy Salter or even Burger starting the game. Oh, and the coaches committed to the triple option/run game as well.
