Absolutely not. Hopefully Trump leaves the clown car behind this time.

My pick for Secretary of education?
Nadie

When the department was formed by Jimmie Carter in 1979 the US educational system was #1 in the world.
We are now 25th.
2024 budget?
$238 billion dollars.

Point of information. Nadie is Spanish for nobody.
We should completely do away with the Federal Department of Education.

It looks like the front runner for press secretary is Alina Habba. Surprise pick for defense secretary with Pete Hegseth but I think he will do a good job.

Not my first choice, but she would be great.
She's also way hotter than Scott Jennings.

Hegseth is an outside-the-box pick, but I like it. Could not possibly be as bad as what we have now. I feel pretty confident he will not disappear for a week without informing the president, and while he has a distinguished military career, he is in fact a CIVILIAN, which until Biden appointed Austin was considered an absolute prerequisite for the job.

Austin retired from service in 2016 and joined the board of Raytheon. Oddly enough, the path that Mattis (Trump's first SecDef) and Lloyd Austin took are almost identical, beginning with their appointments to head up USCENTCOM and then their subsequent retirements, private life and then appointment to be SecDef.

Hegseth is a wild card. To be honest, I feel like Tulsi Gabbard would have been a better fit given her experience with navigating DC as a congresswoman, but it's going to take someone strong to come in and fix the issues at the DoD. Like most of the bureaucracies, a lot of people need to be fired.

I am a little disappointed with some of the other picks starting with Noem for Homeland Security. I would have rather seen someone from the border states, like a Governor Abbott or someone with a bit more law enforcement experience in their background. That department overall has become bloated. I think Rubio was a meh choice for State. I would have preferred Grennell who served in several capacities in his 1st administration, and he was very effective in each. The last thing I'm disappointed about is the DOGE progress. I think Elon is an outside the box thinker and a proven problem-solver. I'm just not sure how much authority he's going to have to go about making real progress. That worries me.

Christians, we are called to be better. Like who you like for the pick, but you cannot put up with casual racism within your ranks.

The audacity to call a 4-star general a DEI pick. What Charlie clearly means is "a black man I don't like."
Have you considered the possibility that DEI played a role in his being a 4 star? His success/failure record as a military commander is a mixed bag at best.

"Since he's black, he might not have been qualified to be a 4 star in the first place" is not a take that beats the racism allegations

I'm convinced nobody in this thread actually knows what DEI is. Par for the course with political discourse these days. It's unfortuante so many fellow believers have fallen for the trap.

As for the current SecDef..ask me in about 4.5 years when I retire :D

Are you saying you alone know what DEI is? I know folks who run DEI departments. I know that several companies and universities are dismantling their DEI departments. I have a very good grasp on what it is and the types of individuals who run them.
Do you mean the Current SecDef or the incoming one? I was skeptical of the incoming one but the more I hear from people I trust the more satisfied I am with the selection.

I have a fairly good understanding on what DEI is but I'm far from being an expert. I know enough to know how it's being used in this context is wrong and being used ad a veiled slur because people don't like the current SecDef.

To answer your other question. I was talking about the outgoing SecDef.

The incoming? Who knows. I'll reserve judgement until he starts doing the job. It certianly is a much more complicated job than he's been use to doing the past few years so that does have me concerned. I've also worked with officers from the guard so I'm a little biased....

So... been quite a day.

- Marco Rubio officially for State
- Tulsi Gabbard for National Security Advisor
- Matt Gaetz for Atty General (that's ummm... going to ruffle some feathers)

I am taking a wait and see with most of these. Eveyrbody deserves that. Everybody but Matt Gaetz. The dude is a sexual creep and has no business filling the role of AG. There are soooo many better choices in Trump's orbit and he picks Matt freaking Gaetz???

Mike Lee or Jeffrey Clark or even Mark Paoletta would've been far better. What an awful pick. The dude is as slimy as they come and it's pretty well known in Florida poltical circles how slimy he is.

Swing and a miss there Donnie.

2013

"Attorney General Eric Holder brushed off a question Thursday about when he might leave the administration. Instead, the top lawman professed his allegiance to President Barack Obama.

"I’m still enjoying what I’m doing, there’s still work to be done.  I’m still the President’s wing-man, so I’m there with my boy." Holder said in an interview on the Tom Joyner radio show."

2024

Gaetz ..... Trump's wing man.

Several times. And everytime he ended up being right. I finally decided to just wait and see. Did that with Vance.

I’m good with most of the picks. Gaetz is an absolute head scratcher though. Too many other more qualified folks. Too much baggage I don’t care for him at all. It isn’t reasonable to expect that you’ll agree with every pick and 2-3 won’t get confirmed. I’m hoping he’s one of them
. LOVE the Tulsi pick.

Gaetz could be a head fake, to insure Trump's #2 pick passes. But Gaetz just resigned from congress to simplify things.

Alina Habba, who many had considered to be the front runner, has turned down the press secretary job. A lot of talk about Kari Lake or Scott Jennings. Some new names I have heard: Peter Ducie, Harris Faulkner and Candace Owens. No announcement, but I'm pretty sure McEnanny has also passed.
