EZ PZ. Honestly that feels like a really strange fit for a lot of reasons. Geography being the main one, but also UConn's football needing some major improvements. If this happens it might be up there with the weirdest conference realignment move yet. Obviously the ACC is a more natural fit, but with the instability there perhaps UConn has turned their nose up at that option.

It says Big 12 and UConn discussing UConn joining for football in 2031 and all other sports in 2026.
Brett just added to this and said that if they can get out there are also ACC teams on the Big 12’s radar.

No surprises there. UConn is a major athletics program without a major conference home, and Clemson/FSU/UNC are far more valuable than any current Big XII member.

And TCU has a winning record over UT-Austin this century, yet which one got invited to the SEC? It's about the value of brands, not a good/bad game or season.

I get UConn is a major basketball program. For so long football has driven the bus.

I can’t think of a worse football school that has been invited to a P4 conference in the last 20 years. Not even close really.

I agree that football has driven the bus, but Big XII commish Yormack seems convinced that basketball is going to be a financial driver of his league.

Uconn wasn't terrible when they were in the big east. They might be able to point at that as proof that they can perform better with more resources. Part of the deal being proposed is that uconn will only join the big 12 in football if they meet certain standards. As long as uconn can be a 5-7 win program while maintaining their dominant ways in basketball it could be a good move for the big 12.

Anyone in the know here, know if we've reached out to the ACC in at least ala SMU-style?
I am going to say no. LU's more of a big fish in a smaller pond type of program and I will not change that perspective until I see any valid articles or posts. Even coach Dot has been promoting this narrative the best she can since like 5 years ago. The people should atleast know that the ACC or anyone else do not want LU's money. We have others schools who don't hide trying to get in to not be left behind, but over here we get vague statements and also statements of "we are happy where we are now." It's fine if thats the case I suppose

The Pac-2 & SDSU make a ton of sense for the ACC right now. Yeah, you folks along Tobacco Road probably spit out some coffee on that statement. But a West Coast Division including SMU makes a great deal sense at this stage.

If the 'Noles find a way out, USF has to be the first call though. Florida is just too important at this stage. And tiny private Miami can't just gravy train off their seccess a generation ago for much longer.

I also don't believe the UConn to Big XII is as impending as many assume. If the ACC busts open, Yormark is going to have better choices in more valuable areas that Connecticut. But don't rule out the Bristol influence when it comes to the Huskies' chances.

Just because LU has extra money doesn’t mean they should just throw it around needlessly.

I can’t fault OSU and WSU for trying. But it seems to me they should just accept their fate and regress back to the Mountain West.

I think it's already standard practice to pay for the visiting teams travel during home and home series. It doesn't get talked about because both teams break even.

Seriously.....does FCS not get a guaranteed payout for playing FBS teams? If so, would Maine, Campbell and the like, not be getting money anyway? Do we need to bulk up our schedule a bit, for both exposure and schedule strength? If so....how would a singular travel expense be so bad? If we got a home-home....based on above post, we would be doing it anyway.

I would down with a trip to the Palouse. My kids went to school virtually near Pullman and heading up there is an awesome trip. I am already planning one last run to Moscow in May.

I have never been to Beaverton but I'd be down. And Mrs. Sly would love an excuse to visit one of her best friends in Bend.

Bottom line, let's make it happen to singularly make me happy!
