I use to feel the same way. But this has been our official color guide for years now. I'm not sure how it's still a mystery to some.

Plus the athletes like them. That's all that matters.

A lot of over reactions on here. Personally if the kids like it, let them have it. I just want to see them play in whatever color they want. Except pink. I'd listen to the radio broadcast only in that case.

This is all that matters. The uniforms are a way to appeal to the sensibilities of the players and future recruits. These are just alternate uniforms and provide another option on the field, or just to swag out.

I know the branding guide post. Let’s not insult intelligence.

But since you brought it up:

Prinary - Navy and red. “ALWAYS be the primary colors in a design.”

Secondary / Accent : “Should take up NO MORE than 20% of the design.”

Bottom line: We all know what happened. While I love what HCHF did for us, it’s clear that he wanted light blue because it reminded him of Ole Miss, and he wanted it on the sidelines. We never saw it before he arrived. Then of course everyone else had to have it, and now here we are. What was once a seldom/never used accent color that was not meant to take up more than 20% of a design is now the entire uniform for some.

“But the kids like it, that’s all that matters…”

There’s a fine line between holding on to great traditions vs. changing just to fit the next narrative or impress the next recruit. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

Liberty Navy > accent blue
Liberty > UNC

You think we threw out a light blue option because of a coach that lost relevance in the program almost 2 years ago…? If Chadwell didn’t like this option, he would have vetoed it and that would have been the end of it. I’ve never seen so many people so eager to be upset.

What I’m saying:

- We only started using it when HF arrived
- If he had not started it no one would be wearing it
- It’s not a primary color
- If we’re following our own branding guide that you all are so eager to quote, it should not take up more than 20% of a design
- We are not UNC or Ole Miss or ODU

Not upset, just don’t care for the color. I’ll stick with red and navy. No tarheel blue for me.

I feel like this is a fair take. I've been around for awhile and outside of print or media graphics, it had not been used by Athletics until HF.

Overall, many schools only used their basic colors except the higher top blue color schools. Since the update of the transfer portal and NIL, schools have going all out to get recruits. This is around the time Freeze came in till now, so it's not some conspiracy. This alternative color was always there and wasn't a main factor during our time in the FCS. Freeze said why not since it is a school color and it could get more recruits interested. It worked didn't it? This color didn't become a primary color did it? Relax guys, it's not that serious

I don't know about any of this. But, if HF is the catalyst for the use of baby blue throughout the entire athletic department, it seems kind of weird that football is one of the last teams to get baby blue uniforms - after many other LU teams have been using them somewhat regularly for a while now. Also, I keep seeing people say that HF (or LU) was trying to copy Ole Miss - but I don't get that either, as Ole Miss mainly rotates between two blues that are both darker than the baby blue color LU has started occasionally using. If anything, this is more of a Carolina Blue. I get Houston Oiler vibes more than I do Ole Miss.

I don't mind the look. And if the kids like it - I'm good with it.

Forget the recruits! It's about how I feel about it! Things need to stay the same way like it has always been and no need for change! ~Some older person who doesn't make any decisions (allegedly).

Don't get me wrong, it's definitely fine to have an opinion about the new uniforms. Nonetheless, being shocked that LU is trying to be apart of a trend that most schools have been doing to survive and succeed in a business where the blue blood reign, is a little ridiculous. It behooves me to see the athletic and other departments continue to market and promote the brand in order to survive in this new era of college football.

Sissy blues aside, my biggest issues with the new uniforms is how they're all very plain and boring, and all of them have script writing on them. IMO, it would've been better to fix the red pants & introduce the sissy blues in the same style we had last year with the script writing. Oh well, at least we finally football this Saturday.

I recently talked with our AD and President. If my memory is correct, both were wearing the light blue attire.

I noticed that Chadwell was wearing the baby blue on the Flames Central Podcast this week. Still don't like them.

Coach Chadwell talked about the new unis at length on the Flames Central Podcast that was released yesterday: https://youtu.be/7q6-sAmXnoc?si=bEcjhNbfkQhr0O4h

tl;dr - He said it's something the players have been asking for constantly, and he wants to do things that will mean a lot to them. He mentioned that when he arrived, the team hadn't received new unis in six years. It sounds like the goal this year was to simplify the designs a bit so they can mix and match more often.

The sissy baby blue sucks big time. I agree we needed new uniforms but this ??????????????????????? We could do much, much better. Yes, I am sure the players have been wanting new uniforms. But hard to believe they were excited about a Tarhole wannabe. Even if the players hated the new uniforms, what are you going to do, Boo, sit down and cry? No they are going to cheer. It is kinda like if you wife ask you if her butt is too big. You gonna tell her "yes"? If you have been married for more than 2 weeks, you are going to tell her, "it is perfect" and you better act like you mean it. 8) 8)

Glad to see that Navy blue is still in the mix. Most of my favorite combos have at least one blue part (helmet/shirt/pants).

I can't believe that the uniforms are generating more buzz on here than the actual players/team/upcoming game. What a bunch of girly men

I can't believe someone from LU would choose such an ugly uniform. It is beyond horrible. Maybe we are trying to imitate The Citadel? LOL

Reminds me of once upon a time at Virginia Tech, when fans worried more about what color uniform the team was wearing each week, than they were the team. VT actually lost a couple of games because of that .
