Freeze didn't get a single vote for AP National Coach of the Year. Not throwing shade on any that did, but I'd think this season would've warranted at least a single vote. Not sure if voting took place before or after bowl game.

Voting

Jamey Chadwell, Coastal Carolina - 88 points (16 first-place votes).

Tom Allen, Indiana - 66 (14).

Luke Fickell, Cincinnati - 44 (5).

Nick Saban, Alabama - 42 (8).

Brent Brennan, San Jose State - 25 (3).

Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M - 7 (2).

Brian Kelly, Notre Dame - 7 (1).

Matt Campbell, Iowa State - 7.

Billy Napier, Louisiana-Lafayette - 2

Kalani Sitake, BYU - 2.

Ryan Day, Ohio State - 1.

Dave Doeren, North Carolina State - 1.

Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern - 1.

Dabo Swinney, Clemson - 1.

Wow. That is positively brutal. We were a very mediocre FCS team 3 short seasons ago. Led by HCHF, we just went 10-1 with 2 ACC wins and a top 10 win.

He absolutely should have been top 3 even before the bowl win. Hopefully, that will give him and the team a little more motivation moving forward.

I’d of thought someone would have given him a nod. But, as much as we don’t like Chadwell, that’s not a bad pick either. Personally I would have gone with Tom Allen at IU. The off field dumpster fire that place has been the last few years before he showed up has turned around thanks to him. Would have loved to see them in the B1G Championship game

I am sure Coach would have been fine with Coach Allen winning. I believe he was HCHF’s D-Coordinator at Ole Miss for a couple of years.

Chadwell is laughable. Very mediocre schedule, several close wins, and loses to a lower ranked team in the Bowl game. I guess we can always say that HF got just one less vote than Dabo Sweeney.

Well, Chadwell's football team was only 5-7 last year, so his his 11 wins this year more than doubled his wins from last year.

IMHO Tom Allen should have won this award. He did an amazing job. I'm not totally impartial here, since I spent the last 3 months living in Bloomington with my sister, who works for IU. Coach of the year awards generally have nothing to do with how good you were at coaching. They go to whoever exceeded expectations the most. Chadwell qualified there.

In some facets of college football, there's a problem with integrity.

I think it is garbage that Freeze doesn't garner a vote but the award should be viewed as the equivalent to MLB's "comeback player of the year". If it was anything like the title, Nick Saban would have won it a few times since 2008. I cant stand Satan...Saban but that doesn't mean he isn't the best at what he does. Heck, Orgeron won it last year and he hasn't uttered a coherent thought in a decade. #Merica

Vol Nation seems to have intensified even more in the last 24 hours. The pitchforks and torches are out.

I remember when James Franklin was talking to Penn State, he wasn’t in Nashville - He was holed up with his family at his Florida house and flew straight from FL to State College.

Coach is in MS with his fam.

I keep thinking I’ve seen this movie before. Hope that is not the case.

Money and SEC notwithstanding....I'm not sure why any coach would consider UT, the way they are acting. I mean...you have a couple bad years and THIS is how you can expect to be treated? Let'em keep showing their colors, I guess. Certainly, I would think that would weigh into the minds of candidates.

Tennessee is the worst place for him to go right now. They are so dysfunctional behind the scenes with boosters pulling in different directions and staging coups to demonstrate their influence.

Not only that, but for a guy who constantly lives in his own mentions on twitter way more than a public figure should - including consistently reaching out to people who say not-so-nice things about him - that fan base would chew him up and spit him out.

I lived in Knoxville for nine years and while I absolutely loved living there, those fans are an extra special level of nutty.

I’d understand if he left for any P5 job, but for the sake of him and his family, I hope it’s not UTK.

As much as I hate to disagree - I am. If I am his agent - take it while you’re hot. TN has a rabid fan base, recruiting classes have been solid, decent talent on the roster - not a complete rebuild - his capacity to win quick fits perfect in this scenario - playing in the division opposite Bama and Auburn - by far best SEC option. TN booster issues easier to deal with than Auburn ( just more public ). He can recruit clean there at a high level, much higher than Ole Miss. Praying he doesn’t get the offer, but if he does he is gone. p.s. Fulmer is a tool and I hope he gets thrown out, just hope it doesn’t mean we lose HF over it.

If I'm his agent, I'm absolutely telling Coach Hugh Freeze to take it. It's $5-6 million per year in the SEC East. The professional upside is absolutely there.

If I'm a friend or personal advisor who cares about the whole person, I tell him to wait. I don't think it's a healthy situation for Hugh Freeze the man, husband, and dad.

The power struggle between the Haslams vs the Others (Charles Ergen, Charlie Anderson, and Raja Jubran) is toxic. The Others pulled a power play to fire Currie when he was about to hire Mike Leach solely to get back at the Haslams. There's so much animosity between the boosters that one side would torpedo an AD and who he wanted to hire as a coach just to get back at the other side and pull influence away from them. There are rumors the Haslams are now using their influence to leak the "recruiting violations" so they can now get rid of Fulmer and Pruitt. If they're doing that to Fulmer - someone who is a UT legend - what would they do to someone with Freeze's past if they decided they wanted to make a change?
