Which really all boils down to money.

Yeah the CFP committee is clearly a money first operation. At the end of the day it comes down to Clemson and Alabama again. Nobody else from 3 on down even come close to those 2 programs.

JK37 wrote: December 20th, 2020, 3:51 pm It was five teams for four spots. TA&M, to me, had the only other legit argument.
Ballcoach shot them down weeks ago, said they were not a top 25 team as I recall. Could be mistaken re: top 25.

I thought this was interesting in the coaches poll:

4 of 6 SEC teams did not have Liberty in the top 25 (LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida). SEC bias vs. G5/Independents or bias against Hugh Freeze?

Here were the teams coaches who rated Liberty the highest:

Air Force 17
N. Texas 18
Wisconsin 19
Georgia Southern 19
Hawaii 19
Syracuse 20
Texas A@M 20
Buffalo 20
Army 20
Navy 20
Nebraska 20
Middle Tenn. 20
Bowling Green 20
La. Tech 20
S. Alabama 20

Other teams that did not rate Liberty: Iowa State, Toledo, Duke, Boston College, Northwestern, USC, Western Kentucky, Texas, East Carolina, TCU, Utah

Based on who LU has played I’m not sure there’s any bias

I think it's interesting on the differences in philosophy.

Who did you play? Vs. How did you handle who you played?

Look at 247s roster rankings. They rank the total of the recruiting classes currently on the rosters

NCST #33
VT #36
Syracuse #65
Kansas #72
FIU #73
WKU #80
BYU #81
Southern Miss #85
App St #94
Louisiana #95
Arkansas St #97
Troy #99

Liberty encountered 40 4*+ranked players this season.
Coastal has encountered 8.

Yes coaching is a massive part of it. But the disparity between those two is huge. Liberty played great programs and biases in rankings are shown when you try an justify that a 3 loss BigXII team belongs and we don't.

What/who are the alternatives?

Truth is CCU is not one of the best 25 teams in the country and neither are we. However we both have had good years, against realitive weak teams, excluding BYU, NCSU and VT. Saturday should be a good game
Look forward to it.

Get a different committee panel. The ones they have are lacking in integrity. I watched interview of Chairman and a crooked politician can't fib like he did.

Well said.
Name 10 teams ranked below Liberty/CCU that would absolutely beat us in a game. Would not be hard.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being a ranked team and the exposure it garners, but it's fools gold in many regards.

True. However those same 10 teams you name can also lose to Liberty as well. It's why teams 20 thru 35 are interchangeable and constantly jumping each other. Imo

Rooting interests tonight?

CFP poll is done, so I use AP ranking below. LU is 23 in AP.

18 Miami
26 Oklahoma St.

20 Texas
37 Colorado

CU seems to the the easy rooting interest. Texas would surely drop below LU with a loss and I don't think voters would move CU above LU with a win.

The other game is a bit trickier. Its possible that OK St. could jump LU with a win. It might also be possible that Miami doesn't drop below LU with a close loss. So UM winning would bring status quo, OK St. winning could put LU ahead of both, but its also conceivable that an OK St. win would put both ahead of LU. Thoughts?

Agree. I think Miami losing is the best bet. Miami should drop below LU and OK St should not pass LU. Already better-ranked LU would have beaten #9 and OK St would have beaten #18.

So, I think tonight we root against Miami and Texas, then in later bowls, we will be rooting against:

22 Tulsa
19 San Jose
15 NW
14 UNC

17 Iowa and 21 USC don't play (can LU jump them?)

16 ULL won its bowl game unimpressively against a seemingly average UTSA team. They are in the mix of the one-loss non-P5 teams that played each other. Coastal beat them head to head, Coastal beat BYU head to head, and LU beat Coastal head to head. Will be interesting to see what voters do with that grouping.

I hope they all lose. I also hope no team opts out of their bowl game.

Oklahoma State beats Miami 37-34. Ok State led 21-0 after 1 quarter, but allowed Miami to come crawling back.

Clemson's Offensive Coordinator is out of playoff game with COVID. Brandon Streeter will call the plays, according to sources. Streeter's name was mentioned many times as Gill's replacement, "back in the day".

Really Happy for Streeter. Loved that guy when he was here. Would absolutely support him coming here to replace Freeze if he were to leave.
