I'm in the ministry, but for you guys that are looking for jobs and a place to live here's some advice for you. Stay away from Ohio. Place is horrible. Just one flame fan to another

Florida is getting too over crowded especially South Florida and the crime is growing as well. I think Orlando had the highest murder rate per capita last year. i've been debating recently about transferring to the North Carolina or Virginia area. Florida is just not what it used to be. All the transplants from Ohio are ruining it j/k.

According to many NC real estate insiders, especially in the eastern region of North Carolina, North Carolina is becoming the destination for new retirees from the northeastern states which is being dubbed the "Half-back" phenomenon. These retirees are being referred to as Half-backers, they move to the utopia that is/was Florida, then realize they really aren't down with the climate and reality, and move half way back to North Carolina with some spill over into South Carolina. The Carolinas allow these retirees the coastal regions they desire with a more mild climate that showcase four seasons, something the Northeasterners seem to opine about after taking the plunge to Florida. This half-back reason is one economic analysts are giving for the growing cities in the eastern parts of NC.

im a virginia guy, but i would move back to the triangle in a heartbeat. raleigh is a great city, and i think it is great that new businesses are opening everywhere. raleigh has a smart growth plan, but not as crazy as cary. that town is so stale, but a great place to live. the only city in the triangle which is suspect is durham IMO.

Greensboro isn't my cup of tea. Tried for a year in HS and my dad lives there now. I've lived everywhere due to being a Navy brat but VA is my home.

I am from Palm Beach County, and now live in Ohio, just to clarify. Where the heck is viera. All you haters out there who grew up in Va beach or North Carolina don't know what you missed. South Florida in my opinion is the best place to live in the country. The only other place like it is Southern California. I know this is a thread about job growth, but I had to defend Fla. While it is true that many old Floridians are moving to NC, Florida is just about ready to pass New York in population, and by 2050 is supposed to have around 35 Million. North Carolina can keep dreaming, but it never going to have anything like South Florida( Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach). Last time I checked billionaires were living in South Florida not Raliegh.

Viera is just north of you in the Melbourne/Cocoa Beach area. You must have lived on the good side of Palm Beach or the Jupiter area. I never heard anyone from down there or Miami that as actually had good things to say about it. The majority of people down there are transferring up here and around the Vero Beach area. Are you considering the west coast as South Florida? I'll give ya the benefit of the doubt if your including Naples/Ft. Myers/ Venice Beach areas.

Yes I lived in the Palm Beach Gardens/Jupiter area, and technically South Florida is a term used to describe Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. Not to bash your area, but many people in South Florida think of your area as kind of hill-billy. South Florida is the fifth largest metro area in the nation, and is world class. I would think that many of the five and a half million people that live there would beg to differ with you. While every major area has bad spots, South Florida will continue to shine as one of the most enviable places to live and play.
