First week of the season, App St travels to Michigan.

That'll be a nice pay check.

Imagine being on that team and having two National Championship rings AND getting to play in front of 100,000+. Those are some stories for the grandkids.

I bet they keep it within 21 points.

no kidding. they'll (App) be up for that game.

excellent chance to see how the best of the FCS stacks up to a traditional FBS powerhouse.

When was the last time Michigan played a I-AA team (Back off, Medic! The pre-2007 term applies!)?

Researching...

Located.

Answer: never. The closest thing was a 27-7 win over Dartmouth in 1950.

For Appy to think they're really going to win this game, they have to think that they're team is at least as good as USC or Ohio St. as well as better than Indiana, Ball St., Northwestern, Iowa, Penn St., Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan St., Notre Dame, Central Michigan or Vanderbilt, none of whom came within a touchdown of Michigan last year.

yeah and michigan didn't lose any important guys either....and those terrible freshman and sophmore 2nd string secondary should be 1 year better....not allowing good teams to beat them by spreading out 4 wideouts...

Well, I do think App could possibly be better than:
Northwestern
Ball St.
Central Michigan
The Traditional Vandy teams

I cannot stand Michigan, but even I am not deluded enough to think this is going to be close at all. Appalachian St would get beat by Central Michigan and Vanderbilt for sure and would probably lose to Northwestern. Ball St. looks like the team closest to Appalachian St. on this list. Personally, I am shocked that Michigan is playing a FCS school. They are doing all they can to play as many home games as possible. They have 8 this year, including all of their non-conference games....but when you figure they charge $50 per ticket for over 100,000 tickets...if I was the AD and each home game brought in $5m, I would probably do the same thing.

I've only seen App play one time, and it was this past championship game. They looked smaaaaall. I don't think they matchup with a beefy FBS team.

I should be there. My friend hooks me up with season tickets to Michigan, I've been to about 15 games the past few years. IMO, anyone who thinks this will be a close game is crazy. Perhaps I will be wrong, but if any D-IAA team can hang with a top 5 D-I team in the nation (they might be as high as #2, but should be no lower than #5) that top 5 team is WAY overrated.

Michigan should win by 30 points if they don't play well. I just hope they can finally beat Ohio State! :x
