Just trying to generate clicks for y’all.
But I am surprised he didn’t take the job.

Why leave a 9-1 ranked team, to go to a 6-4 team ?

Why nearly double your salary and have a legit shot to win a National Title every year?

Because we're 9-1. Duh.

Simple question. Do we have any idea if they offered him or not?

I am inclined to say if they offered, he would be gone already. However, the timing of Gus' firing with no coach yet just before signing day tends to say Hugh turned them down.

I imagine they never made the offer, likely because of the buyout they would have paid LU. Obviously Auburn has or can get the cash, but if there are cheaper options then they're fools not to look at those. I wouldn't have thought money would play a role with Auburn, but with all the smoke that the leading candidate is the current DC it seems like they are interested in financially beneficial hires that don't require additional buyouts.

I agree. Hugh freeze puts together a few back to back 8 win seasons at auburn and he's fired, here he can be a lou holtz bobby bowden in terms of bringing the program to a top 25 ranking and also always having his name associated with the program as the face of the University

He wins a couple of National Titles and beats Bama a few times he’s there forever.

Auburn will never be better than Bama, LSU, Florida or Georgia consistently in the next decade no matter who the coach is. I'd only go to Auburn for a paycheck and a buyout knowing you are getting fired in a few years.

Bama has had some lean times
Auburn has won National Championships
Hugh Freeze coached teams less well sourced than Auburn have beaten Saban coached Bama teams.

Your only chance in the SEC is to take a job in the SEC east, beat the weak teams and hope to capture lightning in a bottle in a SEC championship game. Same with the Big10, win the pathetic west and cross your fingers against ohio state in the big 10 Championship game

apparently Freeze and Malzahn are friends and there was no real interest from freeze to begin with. now Tennessee on the other hand.... Scares me. I have a feeling they hold on to Pruitt one more year and then get HCHF next year.

I was reading this morning about some assistant coaching changes they are planning to make that led me to believe Pruitt would be safe for another year as well.

Fulmer's going to hold on to Pruitt as long as he can. Pruitt was his hand picked choice after he (Fulmer) staged a coup to become Athletic Director. It's not a good look when that choice turns out terrible, so Fulmer will ride it out as much as he can.

If Hugh brings home a 'Houn' Dog for Christmas named Smokey, we will be in trouble.

Pruitt, somewhat like Malzahn, seems to do just good enough every year to keep his job. I don't see any movement at the top of the Tennessee program for at least 2-3 years barring any horrible season.
