Is there much of a following from the locals or does the support come mostly from people who have attended LU and currently go there. I am just surprised that you do not get more fans in the stands. LU is a good place to watch the game and it is D 1 hoops. Just curious.
Two things will bring the locals out:

1. Consistently Winning Team

2. Bigger name schools

To ensure a consistent great local turnout:

1. Consistently winning team against the bigger name schools

That is great! I think that should be on the front on flamefans.com when you pull up the website

All you've got to do is superimpose the new floor photoshop-style to see what a great crowd would look like today. Oh and put flamefans in place of the "1998 Liberty" tag.

Maybe a picture on the front that corresponds to the major sport in progress for a particular season, i.e. Williams Stadium or a FB player in action for Fall, the arena shot or LaHaye shot for winter and the baseball diamond for spring. (Then you just need a skull in bones for the summer as everyone will be forced in to FlameFans Anonymous to deal with the inevitable withdrawl...oh, wait what am I talking about--the summer being a dearth on FF--that's prime season for speculations, rumors and conference realignment talk. :nod

I can definitively state that the picture was altered. I will not name names at this point. I would prefer to keep TW out of this conversation! :D

Storage.

Was that back in the day when the place really seated 9,000, making it larger than UVa's U-Hall and Tech's CC?

If that is from the Va Tech game then it is the real deal... that game was a legit 9,000 with people standing... the only empty seats were folks that were taking the kids to the pool.

Now 3,000 were rooting for Tech, but it was a huge crowd.

Lost--the only time we ever beat Tech was at their place, thanks to Coach Myer's recruiting of Parrish Hickman, the MSU transfer (who is now in prison).

I was at that game. Definetly one of my top 5 LU sports moments. At the half, they recognized the VT football team which was on its way to NO to play in the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship. The whole team sat directly behind us during the game. I was a little bummed that one Michael Vick was in New York as a finalist for the Troy's Myth trophy.

LU's Coach Jeff Myer beat Tech once, but I don't think Hanky or RD has ever beaten the Hokies (though RD had a well-publicized win over UVa during his interim season).

Krh44, since you have dusted off your old media guide, who were the LU coaches during those 3 W's? I really have no memory of 3 total LU wins against Tech, but I guess the media guide can't lie.

I'll answer that one, if that's okay.

92-93 would have been coached by Jeff Meyer. The win came on January 25th.
99-00 would have been coached by Mel Hankinson. The win came on December 11th.
00-01 would have been coached by Mel Hankinson. The win came on November 28th.

Since we're talking VT, let's be fair and list the entire history...

79-80, L
80-81, L
82-83, L
89-90, L
91-92, L (Home)
92-93, W
93-94, L
94-95, L (Home)
95-96, L
96-97, L (Home)
97-98, L
98-99, L
99-00, W
00-01, W

So, overall, we stand at 3-11 against VT. :clapping
