This last Tweet confirms my thoughts from earlier and he really didn’t ever want to be the President or Chancellor at LU. I’m going to go against the grain here (I’ll wait for you all to affix your shocked faces) but I’m happy for him. There was going to be no possible way he could heal or be happy while ever working at/for LU. He is now free to pursue what will actually make him happy. I’m totally ok with that and hope he finds it. Sure there will be bitterness short term. And I hope he does not decide to go scorched Earth. But I’m happy he feels he’s been released from the milestone around his neck and is now free to pursue his career passion
Sorry for quoting you, hopefully you and ballcoach can keep up
But I get what you're saying here but he was free to leave anytime he wanted. He chose to lie to the board, he chose to leave parts of the story out. I don't believe all the words out of the poolboy's mouth are gospel by any means but Jerry completely denied this whole thing was true. He denied it to the board a few years back and he denied it publically many, many times. If he felt like being the leader of the University was holding him down he should've been a man about it and moved on.
And this, to me, is not just about the poolboy. It is about how he treated some students, some staff, some faculty, some parents, and some alumni. It is how he used his position of power to get what he wanted and made it clear the University wasn't a priority. And that just scratches the surface.
So yes, it is great he can finally do what he wants to do but he doesn't need to quote MLK on his way out and make it sound like none of this is his fault. He may have had some help going down this path, but he must own his actions. He hasn't done that and it doesn't appear he wil.
SO yeah, great he is doing what he wants but if he continues to go down this path it is only a matter of time before he hits the media circuit to drag our name through the mud. I hope I am wrong. I hope that isn't what he is planning but it sure looks like it.
