Ha. Actually the original statement came out wrong. I was trying to say I know someone who would be great and is interested but asked I not share their name. Absolutely a long shot and name has not been mentioned by anyone else

Gotcha. I would imagine there are probably a lot of good people that would be interested. Liberty has had a lot of positive influence in the Christian world. Most don't want to see it fail.

I actually am of rhe belief that he shouldn't ever come back to his role as president. If he takes steps to right himself then I'll have no problem with him being an advisor but his days of being the public face of rhe University should be over.
This is where I’m at. I hope he gets the help he needs, but LU needs a new face and a fresh start.

My girls (current students) absolutely love LU. Jerry’s ongoing behavior and the negative publicity he brings to the school is literally the only thing they don't like. But, it was a big enough issue that both considered not coming back this year.

LU has so many things going for it (and much of it is admittedly Jerry’s doing). I really believe that the right leader can take it to another level - spiritually and academically. It’s time.

If I am on the Bored of Directors, here is what I would do, if the people were interested.

President: Condi Rice. First she is immanently qualified, loves sports and is a great speaker and organizer. (In addition, and really of no practical importance, she would make the white-privileged, political identity, snowflake, racist feel good. After all it is all about ones little feelings now days isn't it? ) :D

CEO of Spiritual Life: I believe Jonathon would be great at this, but think he is too smart/busy to get involved. But we need someone whose first love is building the spiritual lives of the students and faculty. Nasser is a waste of good air, always has been, always will be.

CEO of Operations: Person would be a stellar Christian and a business/operations person with a significant history of financial management in a large organization. Don't have a name, but I am sure there are many qualified individuals.

Condi is more than qualified to have these two positions report to her and would add her wealth of experience to their strengths. I believe LU has gotten too big to have just one person calling all the shots. Not sure Sr., in his prime, would be able to handle something as big as LU any more.

To put an even finer point on Condi Rice experience... she was Provost at Stanford University.

I have a close relationship with a long-time Board member. He say's, with much affection for Sr, if Sr was still around we would still have Quonset huts for dorms. :D

Wasn't Ms. Rice a part of the board of governors of the NCAA at one time?

None of these higher caliber candidates would consider coming to LU with the potential return of the predecessor hanging over the position.

With the right permanent administrator, restucturing the board to truly hold leadership accountable would be possible. The men serving on the board by all indications have great intentions. But there are strong reasons why we were all so shocked by Friday's news under current board alignment.

I know this has been refereced a few times in this thread but the contributions of Jerry Jr. to the school over the past decade were immense. I recognize that his shortcomings are front and center right now but I think it is only fair to make sure it is all held in the proper perspective. I could see a repentant and humbled JLFJR being the perfect fit for the CEO of Ops described by Flameshaw. In fact it could be argued there may not be a better equipped candidate for our specific situation. But that is nothing but conjecture right now.

I am sure they are. I reported directly, to two CEO's of publicly traded companies. Bored was our affectionately shared name for such meetings. :) I have just never transitioned away from it. 8)

Ben Carson, Yony Wvans and Franklin Graham all would be great and IMO, mostly fit the mold of Dr. Falwell. However, they all aren’t spring chickens and would merely be transitional leaders. But maybe that’s what we need?

If we’re going big name (which is the Liberty Way 😀), Condi Rice would be good, but is she a devout born-again Christian? Serious question, as I don’t know. Also, what about Mike Huckabee? Conservative Christian- politician, Baptist preacher & businessman all in one. Kinda what we need.

Personally, whomever, it winds up being, I want a return to Jesus first, people second, then academics and athletics, but we must never abandon our conservatism. So while politics might need to be toned down, we must not leave it. Remember that while we want to be amongst Notre Dame and the P5, we should never strive to be like them. Especially not in today’s day and age. Even if it means going down with the ship until Christ calls us to the sky.

Lots of hanging judges here. He has a problem that is fixable. He was also a pretty great leader. Fine him half a year's pay and make him complete whatever rehab he needs. Last and final chance.

Pretty sure the vast majority of posts have been happy he’s going to get the help he needs. Don’t see anyone dancing on his grave or enjoying his demise. Most are wishing him well. Maybe he finds out that he really DOESNT want to run a University. He’s got the means and connections to do anything he wants

Which paycheck? I actually think his salary is greater than the President

There hasn't been a single post where I thought it sounded like they were happy with this situation. Most want Jr to get the help he needs and we all wish him well. There are differences on if and when he should come back and some are relieved the board made a move but nobody is doing a victory dance. At least from what I can tell. Away from the forum? Well that is a different story. Some people are getting too much joy from this.
