If fans can't attend football games, they certainly can't attend basketball games.

You're right. I'm not sure what that has to do with the 2020 football season.

Falwell on Liberty's on Liberty's 2020 Football Schedule
“We may end up playing some pretty big name teams otherwise we wouldn’t have played because of what the conferences are doing by limiting their games to conference play,” Falwell stated. “We don’t know yet, but we think it’s going to end up being a positive for Liberty. But who knows, between now and the fall…you’ve got to have somebody to play. You can’t just decide, well, we’re going to have a football season. Other schools have to decide as well.”
Do you think it is possible to play all of the independent schools?

Here is the List
  • Army
  • BYU
  • NMSU
  • Notre Dame (may play an ACC schedule)
  • UConn
  • UMass
This is an instance where I am happy Jerry has a big mouth and divulges juicy details such as this.

Good grief. I'm going to keep my reservations until the last possible minute or until we hear exactly is going to happen from the ACC, NCAA, SU, or LU.
We canceled ours after this announcement was made.

Maybe I’m too cynical, but any chance that Jerry is “trumping” this up to make it sound greater than it will really be?

That is what he is doing. I am 99.9% sure of it.

I'm not convinced there will be a season but we shall see.

Texas telling their season ticket holders that they will have 50% capacity is an encouraging indicator to me that there will be a season. Plus, MLB and NBA as well as NHL beginning theirs is also encouraging. I know I am an eternal optimist but I have a good feeling that we will have some kind of season.

MLB will be the true test since they will be traveling. NBA being in the bubble won’t tell us much for football. If either have major outbreaks, you can forget football this fall.

I watched two football(soccer) clubs play on a field today on the tv. After the game, they were high five-ing and hugging each other. If there's no football(american) games, I'll pretend to be shocked

Yes it was live.

If it was MLS, they’re in a regulated bubble with no travel. Even with the bubble, they had two teams drop out of the tournament because of COVID outbreaks on their team.

It wasn't MLS, these club teams are international.

NMSU is out - governor “asked” UNM and NMSU to cancel fall sports. Home and home with the rest would get us 8 games. I would consider a home and home with JMU ( if the other FCS schools are out and since 2 FCS games count ). Good for the fans and state and good for LU public image if we took a road game to help JMU. ( not too good if we lose ).

Special circumstances or not, we should absolutely never do an away game at an FCS school.

Well, I predict there will be a delayed start. NCAA bows down to Notre Dame, and gives them everything they ask for, even to the point of shafting other schools.

I agree 100%. ( I don't think we should play JMU at all, except as a very last resort, to play enough games to qualify for a bowl game) if we cannot find anyone else to play.

As a fan, if allowed to attend, a delayed start dosen't bother me. First couple of games way to hot anyhow.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if the Mountain West was the first FBS league to cancel or postpone football. The Cal State university system is already going online only (Fresno State, San Diego State, San Jose State), it's doubtful those schools will be able to play - and if UNM acquiesces to the governor's request, that's 4 schools in the league not playing.

Obviously I can't speak as to that specific video, but the guy heading up a lot of that stuff is Isaac Apon. Very young guy and super creative. Love the outside-the-box choice for the voice over. I feel like I've heard that voice before, but can't place it.

Maybe a little. Based on the delivery, I doubt the voice on the video was a professional, and I suspect that was by design. Probably an older man from the area with connections to the school. The accent is certainly "local". It has a "Virginia gentleman" feel to it.
