I am hearing there are some other things in the works, that I believe will be very positive, I hope that they come to fruition. We need some major cultural/spiritual changes.
I am also hoping that we don't over- react to the racial :BS going on in our country, but I suspect that we will. I do not agree with Jr's post on the governor, can we make some things better? Yes. Do we need to swing the pendulum too far, like most organizations are doing? Absolutely not. All lives matter, all races matter. Trying to please the world/media is a waste of time and counter-productive to the mission.
Without giving away classified info, do the other things in the works involve bringing back familiar faces?

Every post by “whatistruth” is clearly someone with an agenda against JR. He certainly didn’t mean it as a compliment.

The likes were not for whatistruth. They were for my post about Jerry's hire of McCaw.

rogers3 wrote: June 28th, 2020, 11:30 am If you want to see our sports program become national contenders in most areas, someone like Jerry has to be on board. I don't think that his expertise is exceptional in anything else other than that. I've said it before but I will say it again: there are plenty of people giving the resources that Liberty has who would do as well or probably even better in developing a strong educational institution because I would not say that that is where Liberty is right now. So, let's say you get a very solid leader who happens to be a great academic and a person who knows how to build a great support staff... You would likely be upset at the way resources began to be turned more towards academics and true student opportunity versus athletics.
As long as Liberty stays true to Doc's conservative Biblical worldview, (right to life, traditional biblical marriage, religious freedom) ...... liberal democrats, and the LGBT media will write their articles and try to marginalize the University. It doesn’t matter if the Falwell or DeMoss name is at the top. If Jr retires and someone more effective takes his place the hate on the left would grow even stronger.
Honestly, if the school could field a president that isn’t frequently in the headlines for saying/doing something asinine it would go a long way. You stop giving people a reason to criticize and it will mostly go away.

How often do you hear criticisms of Grand Canyon, Baylor (outside of the Athletics scandals), Belmont, Regent, Biola, Calvin College, Asuza Pacific, Mississippi College (not an SEC school), Belhaven, Colorado Christian, Ohio Christian, Pepperdine, Samford, Notre Dame, BYU, Abilene Christian, Lipscomb, Dallas Baptist, Oral Roberts, and Bob Jones U because of something their president said or did? Or how often do you hear criticisms period? Nowhere near as frequently as LU. Jerry and Jerry Jr. have frequently made LU an easy target because they have had a propensity for saying/doing stupid stuff.

Complain all you want about the media going after LU. Sure, sometimes it’s warranted. But it’s time to accept reality that a large part of the problem is self inflicted by stupidity of leadership.

thepostman wrote: July 1st, 2020, 8:46 pm I'm not surprised by online being an all time record. It makes sense with less people wanting to travel but I am really surprised that everything is booked for residential dorms. That isn't to say they won't be drop in off campus students but I figured we'd see a drop in both.

Did he mention if there would be any restrictions from students coming in from Florida or California?
LU is pretty cheap for a private college. Easily the cheapest non-trade/technical four-year private in the state, probably for the whole country when just going by sticker price.

Based on my HS resume (and an admittedly pretty rough estimate on my family’s estimated financials would have been at that time and then forecasted to now), I could go there now for just a tad over $12K a year as a commuter. That’s with no loans and no scholarship money from anyone other than what LU’s price calculator is giving me.

And based on entering my HS information (and a rough estimate of family financials forecasted out to today’s #s), as a commuter student, I could be admitted today for just under $10K a year without taking out a single penny in loans or having any external scholarship or or grant money.

And that was with me having mailed it in on the SAT because Lynchburg College said with the rest of my academic record they just needed a score on file before they could admit me. I just showed up and took the test with no prep work done at all. If I had prepped like many do and bumped my score range up a slot or two then I’m easily looking at under $8K a year with no loans and no external scholarship/grant money.

The combination of college classes being moved on line and the recent riots/protests has taken the lid off the septic tank that mainstream academia has become and let out the stench. Prospective students and their parents who have not already been indoctrinated are going to run away from it like the plague. I predict that within 3-4 years Liberty on-line enrollment will be at least 150k and on campus will be close to 20k and turning kids away for lack of room. GCU and other options that are not totally leftist/identiterian will experience similar growth.

You're right.

But still. Gross.

Trey will do a fantastic job when the time comes. Now that Randy retired, Trey is pretty much running the day to day already, as is. JLFJR makes the big decisions and final calls, but much like with Doc and JLFJR circa 2000-2007, Trey is doing a lot already. For those worried about social media, take a look at his Twitter account, or the lack thereof. He hasn’t tweeted since September of 2017, and his account is private. His Instagram account is much the same. I don’t see that changing when he becomes President of Liberty University. He is focused on LU, and every decision he’s made thus far has been spot on. He is wise beyond his years and learned much from his father and grandfather.

Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations will not happen with Trey at the helm, I can promise you that.
This sounds like the type of thing Red Finch would post before the Cohen bags of cash scandal.

On another note, I really feel for the athletes this year as it looks like many games, if not seasons, will get cancelled.

A bigger or in depth issue is what they call cancel culture; this is affecting everything university and even corporations. I posted some time ago in another thread I believe that one president for a research program who was forced to resign for sharing actual data that disproves high racial tensions between authority and "blacks." Then another professor or researcher has been attacjed by folks who feel unsafe of information that he posted on twitter:

BTW he's big in evolutionary theory.

These folks are after anyone and they will continue to be after Liberty with or without Jerry posting his "beliefs." This is the society we live in and we are not part of that club. Good luck being ask for an invite to conference where schools have turned and surrendered to #cancelculture. We just have to do the best we can from the outside looking in.

Edit: found the research bias I referred about the guy forced to resign(I forgot his name):

I say that with a bit of tongue and cheek. I have always said that it is one thing getting criticism for what we believe. It is a whole other thing for the leader of a Christian organization to go after people in such mean spirited ways. That has alwaya been my stance. The Bible is pretty clear we will face criticism for our faith. It should be expected but it doesn't give us the right to be jerks to a lost world.

I obviously don't know anything about the governor's walk with Christ or if he has one but if he doesn't, Jerry did not represent Christ well but he apologized for that but that was far from the first time he has used twitter to personally attack people but for some reason it is all that keeps getting brought up.

Not their best work for sure, but it's a bit of a landmark.
JR made it back in the 2016 election cycle MANY people fell for it. Does no one remember the Trump Casino Story they ran?

I just started following the Bee on twitter a few weeks ago, so this was the first time I saw them target JR. I'm sure it won't be the last.

@ballcoach15, Your first impression would be wrong. It is a parody site that pokes fun of everybody. I have liberal friends who hate and I know of conservatives who hate it.

They mainly poke fun of church culture and that is how it started but have also been known to poke fun of polticians as well.
