I don't recall having heard a negative thing about the church since Sr passed. No doubt there are a few who may be disgruntled about something but Jonathon has surprised a lot of people, many saying he's a better preacher than his dad. (Even though many of us would have to admit Sr. had great stories and could always hold your attention. :D ) A humble spirit goes a long way.

I don't think anyone here other than maybe BC has anything bad to say about Jonathon... I'm saying this based on his earlier comment about younger folks.

I wouldn't hit the panic button on this --- at least not yet . I'm sure Liberty handles this the same way BYU does --- being "gay" (that is, being attracted to the same sex, but not acting on it) doesn't trigger any consequences, engaging in sex outside of marriage (defined as in the eyes of God --- so, gay marriage will always be a sin) does. For now, serious religious schools can still maintain their standards.

I believe that will change at some point as the Second Coming nears and governments fall apart in the end times, but I don't think we're there yet.

It may be that at some point (how soon is unknown), schools like Liberty and BYU will have to stop accepting federal grant money in any way (Pell, etc.), so as to be able to maintain standards. Depending on governmental shift, that may not be enough.

Problem is, this new ruling changes that. According to Gorsuch, if I deny a job to a man because he's married to a man, that's sex discrimination, since a woman being married to a man would not have prevented her from having that job. Likewise with a transgender individual.

If you don’t think there will be those applying to make a point.....
Agreed - every Chick-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, church and Christian / Catholic / Mormon school positions will be over run with law suit happy activists immediately with ACLU lawyer on speed dial. Will show up in interview one way and first day on the job in drag.
Chick Fil A has been employing openly gay people for years.
Hell one of my extremely open friends in college even owns some CFAs now. CFA keeps the anti-gay agenda away from their stores.

Unless an employee volunteers the information, or it's publicly available information, a potential employer shouldn't know what a potential employee's marital status is in the first place as it's illegal to ask.

TH, I hope you do realize that whether you believe it’s a sin or not, a person can be a Christian and homosexual.

I don't see how that is humanly possible.

Considering Salvation isn’t humanly possible you are on to something

Yep. If you admitted you're a sinner, repent and ask for Gods forgiveness based on what Christ did. Many people just can't bring themselves to do all of the above.

But you have to turn away from that lifestyle which could be challenging. A person shouldn't still live that lifestyle like it's okay to do so. Let's try to stick to the Word and not what man has added to it for one's own pleasure(s).

There are a couple of passages in the Bible that say, not to add nor take away from the word. many people are guilty of this. ( mostly liberals)

A person still shouldn’t lie. Or covet. Or cheat. Or steal. Or have pride. Or have anger issues. Or have a whole host of other things. Dare we even broach the topic of drinking and obesity? Pornography? Salvation does not mean perfection. We can still be Christians and Christ followers and have our issues.

Please cite them. In context and how it applies. Conservatives are just as guilty I would imagine

I never said we wouldn't have issues. I'm stating that we shouldn't support the sin(s) as the world does.

That’s not what you said though. And now you are defining sin. We can all agree Murder is a sin. But is violence? We can all pretty much agree that drunkenness is a sin. But is drinking? No one, especially Baptist’s, talk about the sin of gluttony. Slothfulness anyone? The Holy Spirit is the one who is Biblically mandated to guide and change us. We are commanded to love one another. So for the Brother or Sister who feels I am sinning by drinking a Zima I show them love and don’t condemn them for their narrow views.

The bible states countless times to turn away from evil. The Holy Spirit does change us, yet we are told to turn away from sin. Doesn't that sound like with the guidance of the Spirit, we have to do what we are commanded to do? So if someone has been living a homosexual lifestyle, represents and is filled with the Spirit, they are born again. They will still deal with temptation and will fall. What I'm saying is if they are doing it willingly and promoting the sin as a right lifestyle, then that's an issue. That's the same for any other sinful ways.
