I really couldn't think of who to ask about this, as the people I associate with don't know a lot about where to find these sorts of things, so I thought I'd throw this out here in hopes that I could generate some leads.

Does anyone know where I might find an inexpensive HDMI cable in Lynchburg? I've checked all the big guys: Target, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc., and the cheapest HDMI cable I've seen was about $50. I see cables at radioshack.com and other places that run less than $30, and eBay can go less than $20, but I was hoping to avoid the hassle of ordering to get a cheaper price, if possible.

Anyway, I don't expect that someone can walk into a Lynchburg store and buy an HDMI cable for less than $49.99-ish, but I thought I'd ask in case one of you knows of a deal somewhere.

Try Central Virginia Electronics on Wards Road. It's right between Ryan's and Office Depot. I'm not certain that they'll have it, but they have just about every other kind of cable so it's worth a shot.

Thats because you have to get the High Def package from Directv if you want to get a settop box with HDMI capability.

Thanks for the link, Rocketfan. I may just order from there since I'm not in as much of a hurry as I'd be if Comcast/Adelphia/whoever my cable company is had more than one HD channel (CBS).

I'm hoping they get ABC and Fox soon... would LOVE to watch Lost and 24 in HD.

Depending on where you live and if you have a HD tuner in your tv, you can possibly get those channels in HD with a simple antenna fyi.

Yeah, I haven't really explored my TV's manual yet. There's a tuner built in that picks up analog and digital broadcasts, but I don't know if the digital tuner is HD-capable. One would assume that it is, since it's an HDTV, but maybe not. I also don't have an antenna, and would hate to buy one only to find that I have no reception in my place.

Looks like this place has officially been discovered. I should've ordered my cable before most of them sold out...
