You certinaly can't compare all of the US to Italy but you can compare urban cores to Italy. Since I live and work in an urban core that includes a lot of transient people from all over the world, I'm a bit more cautious than I probably would be if I lived elsewhere.

Yeah, I can see being more concerned where you are. But again the Media coverage keeps equating “Italy “ with the “United States”. Just like they try to equate Contracting the disease and Dying from the diseases. Here is a great breakdown of deaths from The Virus

This is fascinating:

https://graphics.reuters.com/CHINA-HEAL ... index.html
South Korea has announced hundreds of new coronavirus cases in the space of only a few days and raised its infectious disease alert to the highest level. The surge in cases has centred around two main clusters from a church in Daegu city and a nearby hospital. The new outbreak has pushed South Korea’s tally of confirmed cases much higher than anywhere else outside of China.

Thanks for sharing. It seems to be harder and harder to find accurate and non-political information recently.

Take one nursing home out of the equation and the death rate is very small
You are even hearing talk about the extremely hard flu season we just experienced actually consisted on those who had The Virus. Which makes sense. Being around doctors all day this was a particularly harsh flu season with more deaths that usual. Maybe that means we aren’t at the beginning of this but in the middle or end.
One last thing to remember is that you absolutely will see a spike in people contracting The Virus But that is simply because we are testing for it so obviously it will spike. Watch as media types hyperventilate when this happens. The number to look at are fatalities and hospital admission rates. Both of which aren’t registering at the moment

I just can't imagine his father reacting this way to someone. Maybe I'm looking at the past with rose colored glasses but this reply was so out of line in my opinion.

I get it but that appears to be a father of a current student. I can't imagine someone calling me "dummy" when asking about steps being taken to help protect my child. I'd lose my mind.

I get it. Jerry is probably getting it from all direction 24/7 but so are a lot of other Christian leaders. They don't all react the way Jerry does.

I know you weren't excusing it @Jonathan Carone but I am still always caught off guard because I just expect better. Maybe I shouldn't but I do.

Yeah @Purple Haize The comment before the dummy part was fine. I mean it is factual inaccurate but it was fine. I'm not sure what about that guys response warranted being called a dummy.

A friend of mine sent me that screen shot. We laughed when it was mentioned “imagine if he sent that to you”.

T he dummy statement is stupid on many levels, but even if he doesn't care if people think he is a jerk, you would think he would care about the $$. 3 children in school? Regardless if it's being paid out of dad's pocket or student loans and grants, that's like $60,000 a year.

Oh, I've made the argument many times to Jerry directly. I couldn't imagine the CEO of any company I do business with talking to customers that way. Thinking it? Sure.

Steve Jobs was known to be acerbic sometimes with customers that reached out directly to him. But...he was Steve Jobs, LOL. Jr. is no Steve Jobs.

Oh, I've made that argument directly to Jr himself. He never really had a response.

One of the reasons I became interested in Liberty to begin with was senior's use of the phrase, "If it's Christian, it ought to be better."

That shouldn't stop at athletics or facilities. It should be applied to any area where reasonably possible, including how you treat your customers.

Considering the nearly unilateral approach toward "flattening the curve" so to speak, I do wonder why Jerry is so incredibly resistant.

Are there financial liabilities that Liberty feels it is open up to if they were to transition to an online model, etc?

For instance, I know the cost of a resident course is more expensive than the cost of the same online course.

If residents were moved online, would many of them have a chance to drop their residency status and take the class as an online student and pay a much cheaper tuition, since they will be home anyways?

Is that a concern?

I know there are existing registration deadlines, etc and I have no idea how hard it is for students to transfer from resident to online, etc. Is it possible that a resident student finds the online experience engaging and so they want to transfer to that for next year?

I'm just curious why he's almost militantly resistant to it.

A week ago faculty were privately discussing how morale is at an all-time low. Deans had just advised that non-renewal letters would go out after spring break. Jr’s comments this week have some of them hoping they get one. This kind of university leadership is preposterous and abhorrent.
