If you want to talk ASUN smack or ramble ad nauseum about your favorite pro or major college teams, this is the place to let it rip.

They don't push it has hard as I expected them to. I expected them to be sprinting to the hoop (or 3 point line) everytime they got the ball. Even after our made shots. But they didn't. They allowed us to get our D set is most cases as they lollygaged up the court. And since they focus on this "transition" game, they have no idea how to run any kind of halfcourt offense. If they're not chucking up some bad 3 pointer they'll try the same backdoor play every time. It's only gonna work a couple times. The guy sitting behind me said it best, "The best defense is a VMI halfcourt offense". Not to mention, it takes a while for them to get in a groove shooting the 3. By the time they start hitting them, they're already down by 20+. Now I know this type of offense allows you to come back relatively quickly from down 20, but wouldnt it be easier to not dig yourself in such a huge hole? The only thing I saw all night that that seemed advantagous 1. any foul on from the other team is huge. if you're built to score as quickly as possible, being able to score without the clock moving is nice. That's where LU got into so much trouble. 2. If VMI does start to chip away at the lead, like our game, it can kill the other team mentally. I was so sure we were going to lose when they got it down to 12. And the lead just got smaller and smaller. I thought we were getting scared to lose the lead. But that's it.

It's an interesting idea, but no team in america has the stamina to run it the way it would need to be ran in order to work. You'd need a team of 12 McDougals.

Me and Scar talked about this after the game, but VMI didn't seem to push it as hard as when we saw them play Mercer. I don't know why, it just seemed like the scaled it down a bit.

Frankly, I though LU ran it pretty well themselves and beat VMI at their own game (aka, their run-and-gun offense).

Keep in mind that they didnt have their full ompliment of players. They did have a bad game and didnt force tempo like they normaly do. They did get down 20plus. Yet despite that it still took a great defensive play to save the "w" As for their style causing them to e in such an early hole remember OUR style has created those same sized deficites. You also assume they could have stayed with us in another style

I guess I am out of the loop. Who and how many were missing? Were they impact players?
Defensive Woes

Do we really have co-defensive coordinators?
