This last page ive read more comments i agree with than any other page ever. My biggest question with freeze is what jon brought up. Should he need to show that he can recruit ethically as an oc first.

Thats my biggest question and i just cant decide what the right answer is. So much of this comes from man to man and trusting a guy with him. If im jr even more than mccaw. Id want to sit face to face with him and read him. For mccaw this a stop in his career. For Jr this is a key point in his and the schools legacy.

Assume we check all other boxes. Who does he bring as dc and how did he show defensively at ole miss. I havent checked all the stats and people connections he has.

Again im with flameshaw. Doesnt have to be long term guy if he advances the program and i would have him as 2nd behind streeter.

I havent seen a 3rd option i love yet.

We can talk about everything else, but at the end of the day, I think this is what it all comes down to.

I trust Ian with that decision.

I'm not sure I trust Jerry given his assessment of our current president.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- What do the football programs at Tennessee, Alabama, and Liberty all have in common?

They're all reportedly in the mix to hire Hugh Freeze.

Personally, Streeter is my preferred choice, and I'm neither pro or anti-Freeze. That said, this right here is the permission that Jr. and LU needs to hire Freeze. We'll still get a ton of blow back because we're Falwell/Liberty/Christian conservative/GOP home base/we hired McCaw/whatever. My prediction is Freeze is our next HC.

Jon i get why you would say that. Whether jr really thinks trump is a stand up person or not ive often wondered. My take has always been he goes too far to defend him personally. Stick to defending his policy and ability to be an outsider and use his need for the christian vote to advance the christian agenda.

I think we all know who will have the final call is why I mentioned jerry and who it has more impact on long term.

Hugh Freeze: When silly season is all said and done, someone better have hired Hugh Freeze. The former Ole Miss head coach is definitely the top coaching candidate of 2018. Tennessee, Auburn, Florida State, and apparently even Liberty, are in line to get a piece of the offensive genius. Saban has been known to invite former head coaches, especially if they have a shred of talent, to join his rehab clinic in Tuscaloosa. Maybe Freeze will be the next man up?

Liberty
If Freeze prefers a head coach position to a coordinator, it sounds like he’ll have a chance at Liberty. In the wake of Turner Gill’s retirement, Football Scoop reports that Freeze is a strong candidate and that the private school has already “advanced discussions.” Freeze, who’s never been shy about his Christian faith, reportedly has strong connections with the administration of the evangelical school—when he made his first public appearance in the wake of Ole Miss departure, it came at a convocation session at Liberty.

Birmingham-based insider Nick Taylor also discussed Freeze’s Liberty discussion process with Vols Wire, along with other schools being heavily interested in the former Ole Miss head coach.

“Jerry Falwell Jr. is going to sell Freeze to being a building block in a 12-15 year plan to grow Liberty football into a BYU-type Independent program and they are going to make it hard for him to turn down their offer,” Taylor said. “Tennessee not already getting a deal complete with Freeze has opened a big door for him at Liberty after Gill’s sudden retirement along with Freeze’s other opportunities at other Power 5 schools.”
Vols Wire also discussed Freeze and his potential hire with his friend David Nasser who serves as Liberty’s Pastor and Senior Vice President for Spiritual Development.

“I believe he (Freeze) is the kind of candidate that we would look for,” Nasser told Vols Wire Tuesday night.

In Nasser’s own belief, he thinks Freeze would be one of a handful of people that would be a good fit in replacing Gill.

His belief centers around two things.

“Number one, he is a proven football coach and does not have to prove himself,” he said. “Number two, he is a strong believer and a strong man of faith.”

Apparently he is a personal friend. Probably not my first choice either but it's the job of the writer or his editor to find people to interview for a piece

I get why the writer would ask the question. But Nasser has no place commenting on the future of our football program in an official capacity. He should've turned the interview down. Then again, Nasser loves him some Nasser so of course he didn't.

Examples of the trial balloons you refer to ?

Freeze coming to convo ? Jerry tweeting links about Briles being wrongly accused ?

I don't know him well enough to muster the passion his name seems to generate in some circles, but I also wonder if David Nasser might have spoken out of turn.

The NCAA will set up a satellite shop anywhere Hugh Freeze pops up. He left Ole Miss in shambles and they have to vacate many of his wins (including the sugar bowl victory). 15 level one violations under Coach Freeze at Ole Miss including the big one - lack of institutional control. Forget the escort stuff and just let the NCAA stuff sink in. They haven't had a winning season since 2015 and they are devastated now. Next year will be really bad and probably the year after. The sanctions have gutted Ole Miss football and Hugh Freeze was the man that oversaw every bit of it. Heck, he even used an FCA rep in Memphis to bring prospects to Oxford. Some of the more updated violations are sort of silly but that's the point. Once the NCAA zeroes in that you are cheating or you have a coach that has a history of cheating you draw their attention and they will look and look hard! Read this article about the 2nd round of investigations (this was after an investigation in 2015 as well):

Let's don't look the other way guys. Liberty's reputation is at stake. Thanks again for letting me share. I really want this to go well. I know good people are the wheel. Hoping they do the right thing.

Why are the top P5 schools in college football actively recruiting him?
As a coordinator ? Because he flopped as a head coach.

Where is Oxford? Or was it Starksville?
I find it hard to take your views as genuine concern for Liberty as the first thing you do is trash the degree you have then the area itself.
I was out at a few appointments here today and conducted a bit of an experiment. Guess what? No one in Pennsylvania knew where any of these towns were from but on person. So sorry to bust your bubble but those geographical importance's hold no value outside of your area.
SEC is cut throat business. Are you her just here to try to throw a wrench in our process. I doubt it but many thing occur between rivals in that area.
I Trust Liberty will make a decision best for itself will full understanding of what may lie ahead microscope or not.
I feel for your disappointment. I am sure if we hire Freeze and you opt out of the Flames Cub there will be more interest in our program next year so your spot won't go to waste.
That's as negative as I want to get.

He's shown me enough from a repentance-process standpoint that I'd be very excited if we landed Freeze.

Also, a bunch of guys on this board have PTSD. We're not a G5 wannabe begging for a seat at the table anymore.

We are moving into P5 territory very quickly. Maybe too quickly for some of you.

With this hire, we're going to have a P5 level football coach. We already have that in basketball and baseball and most of our other Olympic sports are perfectly set up for success... Guys, we just got started at the FBS level.

Look at our scheduling. We're not trying to aspire become a hyphenated-location-state school that's glad to play unrecognizable G5 opponents.

With this hire, we are turning on our blinker to let the nation know where we intend to go. Recruits will respond to that.

Let the conference TV money shake things up and we're setting up to be a P5 school.

West Virginia needs a travel partner :D

In case you did not see this posted above. This is Freeze's conference record while at ole miss. The last year there he won 2 conference games, to go along with 15 Level One Violations. I would call that a major flop.
